O2 and Age restricted content

Flaming angry this morning, I rarely get time for meets, Monday Mornings are my best bet. Able to acess the forum no problem at home on my phone using Wifi this morning.

I go down town hoping for a meet whilst I am out but totally unable to acess the forum. Eventually I see a message saying Opera has "Safe Search" turned on, but Opera does not have a "Safe Search" as I find and then it flashes up the blame is put on my search engine "Google" safe search, but when I check, Google safe search is turned off. So I'm stumped and with no Fabguys forum, no chance of a meet as I cannot see any messages or people online local.

So I go home, and once I get home, and reconnected to the Wifi, it works perfectly using Opera and Google.

It eventually turns out to be my service provider O2, and as I don't have a credit card I cannot enable Age restricted content as a debit card does not work, and despite paying Monthly as what help says I should be able to do, use the drop down box at the top left of the website and enter the "Age restricted content" menu, but that drop down box does not exist. And the 3rd option, go to an O2 shop which is miles away in middle of Hull. Which I did years ago when they had a shop outside of Hull to enable Age restricted content, but, they seem to have disabled it for again.

Bloody angry as I now have to find time to get to the shop, so that means no meets for me for a while unless I arrange them at home, but once I set off, no means to keep a check of things especially if it turns out to be a timewaster.

It's best to go to an O2 shop and demand access to porn and other dodgy sites. I have to do this a few times with vodafone

As a humorous side of things, a couple of years ago, I lost my internet and when I spoke to the help desk, they did some tests and determined that my Router was faulty and they would send me a new one but it would take a few days for me to receive it.

I said to the operator, I will be lost without my internet and the operator replied, "You better dust off some magazines"

I was a bit confused with that comment and did not realize what they meant at the time. A short while later it sunk in, they must have looked at my browser history etc whilst they was trying to help me get my internet going and they implied that I should "Dust off some wank mags".

I think you will find that all mobile providers made the default for under 18 in advance of the on-line protection act coming into force, there were multiple threads about it and I think you will find that there is a FAQ about it.

Two possible solutions to the problem:

1. Contact your network carrier and follow their process to have your mobile number age verified.

2. Use a VPN, this will tunnel through their network and bypass their restrictions.

Use the above link to see how you can change age restrictions for o2 customers. If you are on Pay Monthly you can do it on line in your o2 account.

I have already done that as you should have deemed from my original posting, there are only 3 ways you can do it, two of them I cannot do and the third is to go into a shop
