Being patron of a charity is not a paid job. Royals do it to help charities out, give them a boost and highlight their cause.

I imagine the duchess did it to make herself look good and be relevant, but according to one of the charities, she hadn’t engaged in their works for a few years.

Both she and her former husband are quite a grubby pair and it astounds me that any charity would have wanted her as patron.
