Location on Profile

I must be getting old as I’m sure that I have posted about this before but….why do people either put a huge area as their Location on their profile e.g. ‘London’ or ‘Surrey’, or equally some tiny village that most people will probably never have heard of?

I asked someone earlier where in London they are and they replied ‘Doesnt matter this

All areas are close with car or tube or train’ :-/

An instant block for the grammar let alone the ignorance and rudeness.

We have to give our postcode, or at least the first half of it, when giving our location, so perhaps this should be published on our profiles. Recent members who have viewed me have 'near, Wales', 'local, Wales' or 'Powys, Wales which is a massive county area-wise.

Personally I think it’s fine as it is and the choice is down to the individual as some wish to be more careful than others. I only ever state my county and specifically say local only guys.

Nevertheless, this (as an example) shows up on profile, based on first half of post code:

"Distance 30+ miles away (40+ driving)"

and this , on See who's near:

"Right now:They are on mobile, 30+ miles away"

But most counties are big. When people put ‘Surrey’ in their profiles I have to ask them ‘where in Surrey’ as they could be miles away, and I’ll never be able to meet them.

Just put the nearest town - people are hardly going to find you from that! And it saves everyone lots of time a trouble.

A guy had a status update asking why it was so hard to meet anyone on here.

I looked at his profile and it said he lived in 'the northwest'

So I sent him a polite message reffering to his status update and suggested he might get more luck if he changed his location details.

He just deleted my message
