Oxford

It's getting cold and I've started making warming dishes such as soups, cakes and crumbles using all the readily available fruit and veg now in harvest.

What's your go to comfort food dish you crave this time of year?

My place smells amazing. Had 3 frozen chicken carcasses simmering away earlier with celery onion and carrot to make a stock.

Diced more carrots onion and butternut squash and made about 3litres of soup. 🍵

Had some for tea, and reattached Interstellar.

(Still don't understand it!)

My neighbours gave me some apples from their tree which I've frozen. Going to pick some brambles and make some delicious crumbles.

"Bacon and liver casserole with dumplings and cheesy mash "

Very nice, but don't half make the gout flare up

Last night I made a tasty chicken and spinach curry. Tonight it’s roast squash soup. Both hitting the comfort food spot pretty nicely.

I’m afraid until I lose a bit more weight it’s going to have to be a salad. Sigh.

The other day I was having chips, beans, fried egg and a Quorn fake chicken in breadcrumbs and that was comfort food. It reminded of younger dinners with mum and aunt.
