I was shopping for a kettle recently. Very difficult to find kitchen appliances, even from expensive and apparently traditional British and European brands, that aren't made in China nowadays.

I gave up and bought a kettle from Sainsbury's. Unlike my last one, that lasted over 20 years and is no longer available, it will probably have a life as short as any of those expensive alternatives. It was dirt cheap, so when it fails i'll just trash it and buy another one.

Not very kind to the environment, but what do you do? We are now drowning is a sea of Chinese crap.

Most of the components in your car were also manufactured in China.

If you Google where Morphy Richards products are made and like most manufacturers they have "sold out" to cheap labour and all of their products are made in China.

They're just brand names. I've a Haier washing machine. I know made in China. They do a lot of commercial laundry equipment.

They also own the brands of Casarte, Leader, GE Appliances, Fisher & Paykel, AQUA and Candy.

"Primary Production Locations:

Italy: The majority of Smeg's appliances, including iconic refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, and more, are manufactured across several plants in Italy.

China: Smeg also operates a production facility in Shenzhen, China."

Is nothing sacred any more??!! Blood is boiling here. Not in the kettle though.

Such a poor choice of name, almost as bad as the Mitsubishi Pajero.

They withdrew the Toyota MR2 in France because the French pronunciation would make it sound like it was called the M-Shit. 🤣

The Honda Jazz is sold as the Honda Fit in other countries. That really wouldn't work here.

The Japanese renamed the pajero as the Montera in Spanish speaking countries.

Somehow the meaning of Pajero was confused when translated, they didn't realise that 'he who pleasures himself' was quite literal.

Rolls Royce had to make a late change to the name of their Silver Mist, for the same reason.
