Just watched the first episode of this, Charlie Hunnan as Ed was good,I remember him playing Nathan in Queer As Folk in 1999, I thought his acting then was bad, what accent was that supposed to be? Sounded more Irish than Mancunian, anyway better in this.

Wisconsin looked bleak, though everyone seemed to live in a mansion, which I suppose makes living in a permanently Winter Hellscape more bearable.

Thoughts on it.

PS It's on Netflix.

Just finished watching the 2nd episode. Good so far.

Can't help but think his accent is based on Disney's Goofy though!

Yes, I agree! I've seen a black and white news clip from 1957 of Ed Gein where a reporter asks him questions, one of which is how to pronounce his name, and his voice is fairly normal.

"All I keep thinking is how much he looks like John Cena"

HAHAHA this is all I could think too.

Then I realised it mustn't be Cena because we can see him.

Anyway, seems it's all more sexualised, sensationalist, fetishised shite from Ryan Murphy. He turns EVERY story into a big gay agenda. The Anthony Perkins side story really didn't need forcing in. Nor did the weird Nazi stuff, all speculative and altogether unrelated to the actual acts of Gein.

Oh, and the entire arc with his 'girlfriend' was proven false too.

I've been enjoying it for what it is... It's not a documentary so much of it comes across as apocryphal

But it's entertaining enough

I enjoyed it but it's pretty much fiction. I have studied Ed Gein quite a bit over the years and they have been very creative with the truth.

Don't know why they wanted to make up stuff when they had a person as complex as Gein was. They should have made only 3 episodes instead of 8. The other Monster shows are better.

The bloke playing him sounds like Goofy.

Really enjoyed it and took it for what it is.... A film/ series to entertain as it was not a documentary.

Many films etc are beefed up a bit to keep the audience viewing, but the basic story is there.

What it does do, if one is interested in the facts, made me look up the full history on Ed Gein.

Watched it all. Did anyone else find some of Ed's one liners amusing. My favourite was when Ed was sitting on the table next to the woman, he'd dug up, dressed in her black dress with pearls around her neck, having just had his way with her (to put it politely) and in that calm sqeeky voice asked "Was that good for you too". Found his delivery of that line hilarious. Perhaps just my sometimes dark sense of humour or the fact that it was all so unreal but true.

Had to take it for what it was, not a true documentary of the facts but entertaining nevertheless.

Yes. I think he was justifying his babysitting and said something along the lines of ...

' I'm good with children, I do things children like doing, chasing things through the woods, digging holes'.

After watching series watched documentaries....

why make things up or call it Ed Gein if going to spend half time showing other tangents,Anthony Perkins,Alfred Hitchcock etc...

Would have been interesting to see his day to day life as comparison...and more of his domineering Mother.

* he had nothing to do with the Ted Bundy investigation.

*the killing of the babysitter was never proven.( though likely)

*When he shot the hardware store lady with a gun off the wall..the guns had no ammunition...he had brought ammunition with him...so premeditatered murder...a fact not mentioned....

*Ed Gein had a drooping left eye...but in the series he had a drooping right eye...

His accent wad apalling, one minute sounding (as mentioned previosly) like Disney's Goofy, the next a faint Irish accent...The dramatisation was pretty good if you take it as just that a dramatisation. Way too many innacuracies to be anything more than a poetic interpratation. Having said that, bizzarely I did kind of enjoy it, though much preferred the Dahmer series

Really liked it, almost felt sorry for him at the end. I’m not overly familiar with his story to be able to comment on accuracy as some have done, but I just enjoyed it for what it was. But aye, his voice, what’s that all about?

I enjoyed it for what it was. Entertainment with loose history of the guy. Didn't warent criticizing imo as Charlie's acting, imo, was excellent.

However, it did gives insight as to how Psycho. Silence of the Lambs and chainsaw massacre came about .

It wasn't a documentary.

Tom Hollander was good as hitchcock, amusing the way he portrayed him.

Much preferred him in hanna though.
