If you haven't already, try getting it on the floor or a chair sticking straight up then just squat and sit on it, hands-free if it's firmly attached. You should find your arse starting to relax and open naturally when you feel its tip at your hole.

Trying to insert it by hand in some contorted position isn't ideal for a first time.

And plenty of lube as everyone has said.
