Whilst there has always been children who had additional needs (am talking my time in primary/secondary education in the 80s and 90s). It seems like we are flooded with it these days, and I don't think it's because we are understanding more about it these days, i remember all too well 30-40 years ago about kids requiring more support or additional nedds, or ways to cope with overstimulation. My schools had classes set aside particularly for these needs, so why are we seeing it so much these days. I have no data to back it up, but the only thing I can see that might hasten and increase the prevalence is diet. Being bought up on the first wave of convenience food cooked by mothers who worked and therefore didn't stay at home preparing from scratch. It might not have affected us so much by being brought up that diet, but I feel like the end result is Gen X's like myself and Millennials breeding kids who are affected by it. My workplace now seems to be all about adapting and making provisions for anyone who suddenly declares they are neurodivergent, mostly those under 30, or are they just jumping on a bandwagon similar to adding more letters to LGBTQ.......
