What do you guys take to work on your birthday?

Do you bring cake? Sweets?

For me I always bring cheese and chutney as I am no lover of cake.

Any strange examples?

Nothing. Too many cunts who are offended if you don't accommodate their dumb life choices. So I stopped bothering.

I’ve never experienced that. What has happened when you did?

I've never understood the concept of having to buy your own Birthday cakes, so i don't take part.

Who cares about birthdays in the workplace? Be an adult, not a school child.

I used to bring in cake made by my husband but it got so fucking difficult

Having to list the ingredients and listen to people whine that they were allergic to something in it. So husband stopped baking one and I would take in a piece just for me.

I have found that a zero-apology approach to that “this is a treat if you don’t like it then don’t participate” seems to quell the dissent quite fast.

It’s sad that folks seem to think they are entitled.

We use to get bday punches if we mentioned it was our bday at school

I either made sure I was on holiday on my birthday or, if compelled to work, kept very quiet about it.

I feel similar about keeping quiet.

I enjoy giving my colleagues a treat, but I tend to slip in early, stick it out on the desk and then keep quiet and let folks discover the food themselves

I always take a holiday on my birthday.

Have seen several talented bakers stop bringing home-baked treats to work because they got complaints (sometimes from HR) about the ingredients not meeting everyone's dietary requirements.

Nothing, I'm not that bothered about sharing with people who I work with and wouldn't consider friends. Same goes for going away cards etc, if I don't know them that well I don't bother signing them

Nothing, always take the week my birthday falls as annual leave. Haven’t acknowledged my birthday since my twenties , never disclose to anyone when it is.
