There's a difference between a use by date, and a best before date.

If the use by date is exceeded then it's not safe to consume.

The best before date is less critical. If exceeded then it's still okay to consume, but properties like texture, colour, flavour and smell may not be as good as they once were.

I am several years beyond my best before date ...!

Blimey, some years ago i used to go to a club with someone a couple years your senior and their still going strong. There’s plenty snap left in your celery and if you have fun and enjoy doing what you’re doing then carry on !
