I saw the thread this week about animals people dislike. There were loads of anti cat posts.

You can all fuck off. Cats rock. So this is for cat lovers ONLY.

Cats. Where did yo get yours and why are they fucking ace.

Mine? I have two rescues, they're amazing. Loads of character, full of love and addicted to Dreamies. I adore them, and they own the joint.

2 rescues, found at 2 weeks old amd we took them in and played mum for a month. Got the two most chilled companions ever now, they follow us around everywhere and always want to snuggle up with us.

Anyone who says cats are independant dicks are just plain wrong

Ashby de la Zouch

Have never owned a cat and probably not likely too. I am a dog person.

HOWEVER!

I do like cats and when I stayed with friends at an Airbnb at Le Mans for the 24hr race the house unbeknownst to us until we found the welcome letter, came with two cats.

They made a beeline for me lol. Stayed on my bed at night which was cool, then walked all over my laptop when I was watching porn (less cool).

I don’t think they are independent dicks. But sometimes the idea of them going “look I’ll just look after myself for today” is a change from a dog going “er can you walk me and feed me, like, everyday”.

Worthing

I have a half Maine Coon cat, found him asleep on the landing at the top of the stairs one summer when we had let the door open, he was quite feral at the time as he lived on the streets.

He would never go into his owners house (next door neighbours) due to the other animals they had, so he moved in with me and when they moved away I said I was happy to keep him.

I spent over 6 months slowly gaining his trust and cutting out bits of thickly matted fur, he's gone from a snarling nasty untrusting cat to one that sleeps on my lap and wants lots of attention

Cats have loads of personality , great fun and not independent.

If you give them love and attention you will be rewarded with a very good friend.

In the 70's where I was working and living, had a cat i was to look after. He was a wonderful cat. He didn't need to be toilet trained. Even outside he uses the drains. He followed me around the building, up in the lift. When I am in the office, he lay on the floor watching me. Unfortunately, when all staff had to move out, he tried to find out where I lived. He got hit by a vehicle. When I came to work, I found him. We tried another cat, but she was not too clever. But being with cats most of my life, I just adore them.

My sister and brother in law came. As they were leaving they said there's a cat there in the out building. In a crack in the door was a pretty dark tabby cat. It was November and very cold. I kept looking through the window. She just sat there. I rinsed the brine from some tuna at put it out for her. She devoured it. Later she appeared again. She looked left and right and 2 kittens appeared one on either side. She brought them to show me. Please feed me I've babies to look after. That was it. Off to the shop for cat food. I took them in. Found a home for one kitten and kept mum and the other, a ginger tom. He grew up to be the most adorable cat. SJ short for Sunny Jim. Broke my heart when he died. He's buried in the garden with his mum

I love cats for their intelligence and their affection to the humans they like, but above all for their independence of mind ,they are our equals and in their minds, possibly our superiors , if a cat likes you, it's a bond for life .

My last cat was a rescue. Black male called Smithy. Was a great character. More people knew him than knew me.

There was a bowls club behind me and he would run and knock the Jack out of play. He liked coffee ( hot) and bolognaise. He would also meet me at the bottom of the road and jump up on my motorcycle to ride up the road on my tank. I didn’t go fast.

Definitely the best cat. I hope to get another rescue soon

I so miss having my load of cats.

However they would have to be housecats here , near too many big busy roads.

I know of a neighbourthat has 6 cats.

I've never owned a cat though I have had a cat own me. My stepsister bought a new farm and for awhile I house-sat the farmhouse before she could move everything from the old farm to the new one. With the farm came two resident cats. The one took to me instantly and followed me everywhere. Even after I moved away I would return occasionally for a visit and the cat would appear from nowhere complaining bitterly how badly my sister treated him even though he was well fed and had regular expensive check-ups with a vet. He just never liked her even though, being a farmer, she is far more of an animal person than I am. Sadly he died. We think he was about 16 and had had a good life.

I lost my cat of 16 years earlier this week. She was a very loving and very sassy Tortoiseshell who loved to sit on my lap.

She passed away peacefully on her bed in front of the fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

I'm missing her terribly.

I guess Polo has blue eyes? That seems to go with deafness in white cats.

I once had a pair of white cats with green eyes and good hearing. Next door's dogs would bark at them, scaring them witless. Another white cat (blue eyed and obviously deaf) would sit atop the fence totally unfazed by the barking. The dogs would give up and slink off in disappointment! It was entertaining to watch. 😀

Dogs have Masters, Cats have Staff !

Can’t stand them.

We’re always told Dogs are stupid and Cats are smart.

Cats don’t help blind people to live a fuller life or sense medical issues or help Police & Customs find evidence. And their claws hurt !!

Rather like cats but they don't always like me. Can't be in a confined space with one or I sneeze my head off. Back in the good weather a cat--no idea where it came from--would often be out sunning itself in my south facing garden. Look of total disdain if I was out in the garden, as if to say 'What the hell are you doing in MY garden? Be gone you trespassing human!'

I have a beautiful cat. He has big blue eyes, and is loving and affectionate. Dogs can be lovely as well. However, I do find that a pet often reflects its owners personality. I don't particularly like pigeons! But I wouldn't criticise someone who does. Why would someone hate a cat or a dog? Hate is a terrible thing. So easily stated by people who probably don't understand the meaning of the word. I will probably get hateful messages now, from some people on here. Rather Orwellian,

"Hate week" on fab?

Birds tend to shit in everyone's gardens as well? On their cars, and washing. My cat has his own toilet indoors as he's a housecat! Dogs tend to shit where they're walked. Not all dog owners pick it up. It can infect and cause blindness in children. Many dogs have been in the news recently, for attacking and killing. Like I said before. The animals are great. It's mostly the so called pet owners, who can be the problem.

At one point when we lived in Ireland on an acre or so pretty wild ground, we had six cats (all British shorthairs or varying hues from black through tabby to ginger)

What amazed me was their ability to cooperate and hunt in a pack. If there were pigeons on the "lawn" (it was more like a bog), a couple of the cats would stay in plain sight while a couple of the others would commando crawl to an attack position, staying hidden while the birds kept a beady eye on the visible ones. The commando cats would charge out of the blind spot and almost always take at least one bird by complete surprise.

They're cold blooded killers, vicious bastards and I love them.
