Have any of you guys had a prostate biopsy

What was your experience like

Was it painful

What problems did you have if any

What was your recovery time

It was bearable, not painful as they numb you. Your feet are in stirrups, an ultrasound probe up your arse and a guy kneeling between your legs taking the samples. Better than not knowing tho

After the biopsy you’ll have blood in your pee & cum.

It’s bloody terrifying when you have your first wank & shoot out a load of blood !

Then you calm down and realise that it’s has the normal ingredients plus a bit of blood.

It slowly turns coffee coloured & returns to normal after 6-8 weeks.

Work/Play in London, live in Kent

A trans-perineal prostate biopsy is typically an outpatient procedure done under local anesthesia, light sedation, or sometimes general anesthesia particularly if they need to take lots of cores.

You lie on your back or side while the skin between the scrotum and anus (the perineum) is cleaned and numbed. An ultrasound probe is placed in the rectum for guidance, and a small needle is passed through the numbed perineal skin to take tiny tissue samples from the prostate. Most people feel pressure and brief tapping sensations rather than sharp pain - owing to the anaesthetic. The procedure usually takes 20–40 minutes.

Immediately after you feel mild soreness or a bruised feeling in the perineal area is common. You may see a small spot of blood on underwear or experience slight discomfort when sitting for a day or two. You will likely see blood in the urine or semen; this is expected and can last days to a few weeks.

Discomfort is usually manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Most normal activities can resume within 24–48 hours, but heavy exercise and receiving anal sex is typically avoided for several days. Because the biopsy is done through the skin rather than the rectum, the risk of infection is low; the clinician may still prescribe antibiotics as a precaution.

The experience is generally safe, with temporary soreness and mild bleeding being the most common after-effects. Most people recover quickly and can return to normal routines within a couple of days.

I've had three, a little uncomfortable but doesn't take long, no problems after, can pass a little blood afterwards but nothing to worry about. Just try to relax. Also had three cameras into my bladder.

The only thing I would add, every time they took a sample I had a sensation directly up my penis, like a very mild electric shock. It was not painful, just a sensation.

I wish they'd told be beforehand.

Worth doing.

Caught mine early and probably saved me I would say.

I had one done. I was put out for the occasion, yes it did lead to finding out that I had prostate cancer. I had my prostate removed 6 years ago but still here to tell the story.

I had both main types, a year apart.

1) A local anesthetic via a needle up the inside of your bum, (you only feel a small prick, ha ha). You lie on your side, knees up, chatting to a nurse (which feels weird) while a doctor uses various tools shoved up there to take samples. Not uncomfortable at all. Bear in mind that the sample is taken by sticking a needle from unside the wall of your main sewer into your prostate, so to avoid bacterial infection they give you a huge dose of an antibiotic beforehand, just in case. Antibiotics do not work if you have low vitamin D levels, so I was advised to take a large supplement a month beforehand (8,000 units daily). Not all docs or staff nurses warn you of this.

2) Template biopsy under a general anesthetic. Needle through the perineum, dozens of times, to take samples.

Both types gave rise to blood in pee for a while, but no pain or other symptoms.

Good Luck!

the worst part is the six injections into the peraneum which are excruciating I was screaming in pain which was embarrassing

If I had it again I would ask for a general anaesthetic

Don't want to scare you but maybe it's best to prepare for a bad time or ask if you can be put under for it

Thank for your input, ive been informed that there will only be 2 injections, so maybe different places do it differently

this was about 5 years ago so they may have improved the treatment so it doesn't need so many injections I hope so! it was too much and I have quite a high pain threshold but I was screaming like a bitch

Another question

If you've had a biopsy, were you able to drive home afterwards

I didn't have the 'bad' injections but my mate did and he said it was quite unpleasant. They just had me on my side and asked me if I was ok with student medics watching. I'm a bit of a show off, so it was all good with me.

UPDATE

Well guys I sincerely thank you all for you advice and input, I got my biopsy today, and i can honestly say it's less painful than a dentist injection

Ive had all the scans MRI, CT, and bone,

Results are i do have prostate cancer, but I've caught it extremely early, as I requested a PSA test at my GP thats how all this started

Ive been told I'll get monthly hormone injections to block testosterone going to my prostate for 6 months then a few blasts of radio therapy, and that should be it

I think the main message here is

GO AND GET TESTED

Thanks Fabbers

Reading these comments I can only assume the anaesthetic on my occasion wasn’t effective. It was extremely painful, for the four insertions and 28 samples they took.

In my case, not uncomfortable at all, relating to a previous comment, chatting to a nurse during the procedure is weird but kind of nice.

Nobody seems to have mentioned it but for a few hours after I had great difficulty in peeing but that cleared up.

For a couple of months afterwards my cum was full of blood and cumming actually felt completely different but not bad.

Thankfully results came back all clear, so for being 30 mins semi naked having a good looking Doctor penetrate you whilst 7 or 8 strangers of both sexes look on for this sub, is not a bad way to spend an afternoon 😁

Seriously though if you have to have a biopsy taken have no fear, it's so easy and so important to have...

I have to agree, that just doesn't sound right. I was told by my consultant that rectal ultrasound-guided biopsies are usually done with a local anaesthetic, and don't hurt, and template (perineum) biopsies are normally done under a general. I had both, and he was right. I guess there must be variations on that, depending on different NHS Trusts' individual policies. But either way, in this day and age it shouldn't bloody hurt like that.

Years ago I had a camera up the bum to look at my prostate they also took a biopsy using the same tool, 6 shots didn't feel a thing, found cancer cells in 3 of samples so ended up having prostate removed.

Biopsy is more embarrassing than anything else in my opinion but it's needed to be done so do it.

I had 3 guys at the business end and a nurse chatting to me.

It's worth it going through with it so you know either way what's going on with your health.

I thought I had a decent pain threshold until that day.

I genuinely don’t think the anaesthetic worked at all.

I had gas & air for a broken toe to be re-set, and that didn’t work either.

Dental jabs are great though, at least.
