Yes, don't panic, get to the clinic asap and take their advice.

I would respectfully suggest that giving drugs to someone without their knowledge or consent would be considered a serious assault, particularly with something sourced from the internet rather than medically prescribed.

I've not been in that place but the first thing to do is to get yourself checked/tested.

Until then you are worrying about something you don't know whether you have or not.

(if you've not been to a GUM clinic before don't worry they're very discrete & friendly and they wont tell your GP or anyone unless you allow/ask them to. They have seen and heard everything before.)

No sex until you have been tested and got your results. Contact you clinic. Tell them you are a contact of gonorrhoea.

Once you've got you results. Go from there.

They may offer you treatment as a contact. A single small injection in the buttock. Take it. Cuts down the timeframe. Listen to the advice at clinic.

As already advised get an appointment to be tested at your local sexual health clinic. Equally when there speak to them about Gonerea vaccination, mpox vaccination and doxycycline pep. They are all now free from most clinics and reduce the risks of an std significantly. Good luck.

lesson learnt and I'm sorry all round.

my mate had the same, single guy but tested positive for Gonorrhoea, told his mate and i who he'd fucked (I’m on prep but was clear, this is relevant later). I kept thinking I haven't met him for a while, why did he need to tell me. turns out this Bulgarian guy and I were the only two guys he BB’s. The Bulgarian gets tested and was clear for gonorrhoea but comes back pos for HIV!!

Imagine his thoughts. been fucking this guy for a year, and me for 3 years. Married Bulgarian whose wife was expecting lied all along. my mate tested 3 times and was clear for HIV. big lesson learnt. get tested regular, get Prep and think of those you you may affect.

First things first, get to the clinic and get yourself tested. Depending on when last week it happened, you might be showing symptoms which can include discharge, and burning when peeing.

If the test is negative breath a big sigh of relief and think yourself lucky. If it is positive, you are going to need treatment. You’ll have to tell her because she will need testing and if infected treatment as well. No sex until you are both clear otherwise you will end up reinfecting each other.

Remember there are some nasty versions of it that have become resistant to antibiotics

"I caught something just by getting oral a few weeks ago, 3 weeks to get rid of the infection.

Gonorrhea is quite often asymptomatic, so the person has no symptoms and will often only know if they get tested. This is also true for Chlamydia and Syphillus. Many people are surprised to find they have a STI when they've not had any symptoms and had thought of themselves as 'clean'.

Regular testing will pick these STIs up if you're unlucky enough to catch one and treatment for those three will be done by local clinics with complete discretion.

Also if worst case scenario and test positive

Maybe tell wife you went with a female sex worker

As one off etc and caught it

Maybe as damage limited exercise

Chances of recovering from that probably greater than saying it was sex with male

this is your best bet, say it was a blow job and you couldn't resist trying it once with the lads. Gonorrhoea is rare from oral but plausible. be mortified and gutted how badly its backfired and she might forgive.

Like most are saying here make an appointment to get tested

I’m not sure anyone has mentioned it yet but there is an incubation period for sti’s - I believe for gonorrhoea it is 2 weeks. (Certainly used to be)

But go straight away anyway and get the advice from your nearest GUM clinic - they’ll have the latest info on when tests can pick it up. They will probably test you straight away, just ask you pop back for a repeat test once the incubation period is has been reached.

Good luck to you

You have my sympathy my friend.I went through a similar thing after barebacking a guy last year. My bell end started itching

and kept shedding skin. I worried I'd caught all sorts and after a sleepless night or two, I went to the local clinic and got tested. It was all clear thankfully and I was diagnosed with a fungal infection (thrush). It cleared up with ointment. I have never been so relieved. It was all done anonymously and the results were texted to my phone and were deleted soon as I'd read them.

I say you should go straight away

and get tested and stop torturing yourself. Get the results and then you can take it from there.

Good luck.

I would suggest you go straight for some tests. Google, walk-in clinic (you may need to travel, for a rapid appointment). They provide a great service & nothing shocks them. Your results should help determine your next move.

I recently (September) thought that I had caught something. We all got a little carried away in the moment & ended up going Bareback with a couple of guys. A week or so later, several symptoms (incubation periods for common STI's are 3-10 days), so took myself to a walk-in clinic. Very friendly, very non-judgemental. A few simple tests, some results immediately, some, by text, a week later. Fortunately, a simple fungal infection & nothing too serious.

So, for me, going forward, it's safe sex only!!

Symptoms “usually” start around 2 weeks, but can start earlier OR months later.

Second that. You need to talk to her very soon so that she can get tested. And remember NO SEX until you are both tested clear to avoid reinfecting yourselves.

The longer you leave it the worse it will be especially if she starts showing symptoms.

Also try avoid things like kissing the kids good night as there is a very small risk of passing it this way. Passionately kissing should definitely be avoided as a much higher risk.

There are walk in clinics and they can have you in and out in an hour: that includes registering, having them take a swab, test the swab, inject you and boot you out. Someone at work went in his lunch-hour.

“If there are active infections in the throat, kissing could transmit the bacteria, particularly if there the infected person has cuts or sores,” says Dr Vinekar. Deep kissing, which involves exchange of saliva, may lead to gonorrhoea, as per research published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases in 2019. Another research published in the Sexually Transmitted Diseases journal in 2023 found that tongue kissing may be a risk factor for oral gonorrhea. While it is possible to contract this STI through kissing, the risk is generally lower than through other forms of sexual activity, such as vaginal or anal sex,” says the expert.

So believe what YOU want, personally I’d say better safe than sorry. Oh and if you have infected saliva on your hand and rub your eyes, it is possible to get it in your eyes as well it would seem.

This type of scenario does happen quite often and I can empathise with the amount of stress, worry , shame etc that comes with it. But I'm still going to call this instance total BS. Attention seeking stuff, since no-one else has. Like others pointed out, it's probably too early to test positive unless you have symptoms. I've had rapid HIV tests before that show instant results but 3 hrs for an sti screening, I havnt seen that before.

There's only 2 full proof ways to prevent this kind of thing.

1) wear condoms

2) be honest with your partner.

Also get your vaccines - hep, hpv, monkey pox.

Then you can live the life you want , guilt free. It's often a lot easier than it sounds. Many on here have gone through it.

And if the story is true and you do the right thing and talk to your wife about exposing her to a health risk, it could be the best thing that ever happened to you.

It's all out in the open now. No endless worrying about deleting texts and uninstalling apps. All that shite is exhausting anyway. I did it for a very short time and it was far worse for me personally than just coming out.

It is possible - depends on the site and the test.

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/sexual-health/visiting-an-sti-clinic/

Getting your test results

With some tests, you can get the results – and treatment, if you need it – on the same day. For others, you might have to wait for a week or 2. If this is the case, the clinic will check how you would prefer to receive your results.

He posted here at approximately 2pm yesterday and then posted that he had got the result by approximately 5pm.

So he got ready immediately after he posted (despite saying he didn’t know what to do) travelled and arrived at the clinic, waited, got the test done, got the result, talked it through, got an appointment for treatment, went back home and posted here at 5pm.

I think those calling BS are right. It all seems a bit too dramatic.

I've caught it once from a female. The symptoms come out after about 24hrs. Boy oh boy it Hurst and I mean Hurst. Like pissing razor blades. Blood and green puss comes out of your penis. Has to take antibiotics fur 2 weeks. Was told a female can have it but not show any symptoms. But if is shows that you have it then she may. If she does not get tested and leaves it it can make her sterile. Well that's what the clap clinic told me.

Hayes, Middx

It is entirely plausible (in purely logistical terms) for the OP to have received STI testing in the 3 hr window in which they went from their opening post to a secondary message informing us of their results. There are some places where you can do a walk-in (if you are very, very lucky) and be seen that quickly. I refer just to the taking of tests. So that aspect is not scientifically impossible. Though it does seem unlikely.

(Given their stated reluctance, hesitancy and the fact they were canvassing opinions at the start of the thread, whether you find that a remotely plausible part of the story is another matter.)

What then makes it clear we are dealing with an utterly fantasy situation is the claim they have received their results within 3 hours of the start of the thread. This is scientifically impossible.

You can obtain certain DIY swabbing at home gonorrhoea testing kits that purport to give a result within an hour. These are not very reliable and often not used correctly. The OP didn’t start off with one, note, didn’t really have time to go and get one, and then *specifically states he is being booked into a clinic for injections*. No clinic is going to book you in for injections based on your own home testing: they would have to have performed the tests themselves.

If you report to any public STI clinic in the UK stating you have symptoms of gonorrhoea or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for gonorrhoea, the clinic is duty bound to perform a full screening. This means oesophageal swabbing, rectal swabbing and urethral swabbing and/or urine sampling. Gonococcal cultures take a minimum of 1-2 days for the culture to develop to see any positive results. A lot of clinics send testing to an off-site laboratory such as the nearby hospital, and even if they have a lab in-house and start developing a gonococcal culture IMMEDIATELY the swabs left your bodily cavities, the supposed time-frame here is absurd.

Any public STI clinic when it is aware you have had unprotected sex will naturally screen for the full gamut of infections. They are duty bound to do so. Some of these can take at least 3 days for cultures to be developed when done properly. A further factor in the story here being absurd. You can’t just rock up to a clinic and say “Clap swabs only and give me the 30 minutes turnaround!” It’s not Kodak Express.

In summa, this is a load of cock and bull. Why anyone would want to elaborate this fantasy situation, I can only surmise.

Why so many users have taken their time to write advice and sensible guidance about sexual health, I don’t know. Some of you are clearly filled with the milk of human kindness. At the same time some examples of advice above are questionable and some of the information misleading - certain statements categorically wrong. This is the problem about any discussion of health matters amongst random, anonymous profiles, whose motives could be highly questionable, on an unregulated public Forum.

There is so much ignorance and embarrassment about sexual health that I suppose it must only be a good thing if people can reach out and ask stuff on FabGuys (better than not asking and potentially suffering or not addressing problems) but nearly every one of these threads leaves you with your head in your hands.

It is a highly infectious one so I'd say it's very likely indeed that you have it and definitely get tested.

As for your wife then I think that she's going to find out herself if you've got it and do not tell her.

Discharge is probably a bit of a giveaway .

"I got myself tested and it's positive..my oral swab and anal swab both came back positive...

They book me appt for tomorrow morning for injections..

Very stressful..

That's very quick, from posting to getting your results in under 3 hours - what service did you use?"

I do not know anywhere that has results that fast

Get tested, cross your fingers that you are negative, but if you are positive you will have to come clean with the Mrs, be iresponsible not to.

Do not give her meds without her knowledge.

"It is entirely plausible (in purely logistical terms) for the OP to have received STI testing in the 3 hr window in which they went from their opening post to a secondary message informing us of their results.

It happens, get tested first. Then, if you are positive, you will have to tell the wife. It is a criminal offence to knowingly have sex with someone whilst knowing you have an sti.

Your fwb was honest enough to tell you and you should be honest enough to tell your wife.

There are risks and consequences to having affairs, either way, you have been exposed to something that can have long lasting effects for both partners and you have a responsibility and legal obligation to do the right thing regardless of what anyone tells you or suggests i.e giving medication that she doesn't know about.

Lots of issues with compression.

Occasionally issues with comprehension if things are not explained clearly.

“She needs to be told” is the clearest way of indicating that you think she needs to be told. “She’s going to find out herself if you’ve got it and do not tell her” does not indicate in any way that you believe she needs to be told. But I’m very pleased to read this is the case. So back down, Tonto.

Number of people on here who take prep and don't know what it does/does not protect against is pretty shocking. A lot seem to think it's an immunity shield to protect you (and your wife if married and secretly shagging men) from everything

I have a true sti story to tack onto this that happened this week.

I have a regularly guy I see for "fun" but we also hang out. He's been away travelling. I picked him up from the airport on sunday. He had a scab on his lip, he said he had cut himself shaving and it was healing slowly and that it was very embarassing because a few people have pointed it out to him.

Anyway, a few days went by. We both had our sti tests done that week (coincidentally). I met him after my test on Wednesday because the hosp is near his apartment and I stayed over.

His doc took a swab of his lip scab "just in case" and did the other usual tests. That night I was still a bit suspicious of his scab but he assured me he remembered cutting himself shaving. I decided to risk having fun and not wait for the results. We kissed and had oral sex, then went to sleep.

The next day all his results came back negative, except ....he has herpes type 2 - on his face.

So, lesson learned for me. Google was a bit useless tbh because I wanted to see if there was any advantage to taking the meds he has. I've done quite a bit of research on it now. It's very common and most people don't realise they have it as they are asymptomatic. Obviously, I would still rather not have it. But, apparently it can spread even with people who are asymptomatic.

The doc gave him extra viral meds, I wasn't sure weather to take them or not as I have no symptoms but I eventually decided to take the course and started last night.

At the end of the day, the only sure way to protect yourself from STI's is condoms. And I'm not using them for BJ's so, like everything else in life, it's a calculated risk I suppose.

This is actually my first time ever being on someone's sexual contact list after an sti screening. It was a bit upsetting at first but it's my friend that feels terrible for exposing me to it.

There's no guarantee that I contracted it anyway from one interaction. From what I've read online, I might already have it from decades ago anyway but I've never displayed symptoms. So, I've decided to not worry about it too much.

Google did say to go to a doc but I don't see the point and it didn't explain why. It can't be cured, I have the viral meds and the tests for herpes are unreliable and pointless until about 15 weeks when antibodies show up in your blood.

Thoughts ? Should I go

Well you need to remember that “cold sores” and herpes are both caused by the same virus family “cold sores” by the HSV-1 virus and Herpes by either the HSV-1 or HSV-2 virus, and as you have observed they can’t be cured, and they remain in the body for life. So if you have ever had a cold sore you probably already have the virus.

Thanks for the reply. I've never had a cold sore but based on how common hsv1 is, I do probably already have it, but I've just never displayed symptoms.

My fwb's apartment is around the corner from his clinic. I just did a walk in as they are open until 3pm (it's noon now). I just wanted to ask a question about the meds. The best they could do was give me a phone call on Monday which would cost me about $80 so I left. Usually its free but I haven't been to that clinic since I got my mpox vaccine a year ago. It's probably something to do with high demand of the service.

I have a cousin in Sydney that I barely know lol. I'll send her an awkward voice message to find out .

Or maybe I can just give Sydney University a call. They're popular on this website .

After sleeping on the all the information I looked up, I'm not actually worried about it now. I just want to know if taking the meds is pointless or not.
