A post appeared on X saying that NY mayor elect Zohran Mamdani had announced, among other intentions, that New York elementary schools would be teaching Arabic numerals next year after he takes office.
A storm of protest, on X and some right-wing websites ensued.
Some wailed about a "Muslim takeover", "Sharia Law". Only a few spotted the spoof.
