"Bit soft these days ain't we? " Indeed, it does seem that way. While it's undeniable that there have been tremendous advancements in various fields, particularly in medicine and medical research, it's striking that societal values and resilience appear to have moved in the opposite direction.

"My parents used to clear a path on the pavement all along the street and everybody walked. The whole town was the same and cars didn't move for days at a time" I remember those days well, I recall my father walking over 10 miles, mainly on an up-hill route through the snow to work, he never had a day off sick in 47 years working for the same company, it just wasn't done in his mind.

"Cheers guys, it's just how it was for us of a certain age, it's the way the world has simply changed, no doubt folk who will be the equivalent of our generation in 50+ years will be reflecting on the changes they will have experienced too, when we'll be basking in peace in pastures green! 😆" Unlikely that we will be basking in pastures green. All the cemeteries will have been redeveloped as housing estates.

"Remember the 62/63 big freeze. No central heating, or double glazing, coal fire in sitting room, outside toilet. Snow up to our eyeballs, no school, but still have a wank under the sheets. Happy days !!" I had flu at that point. Missed out on most of the snow because of it
