What's up with some guys? I often get short messages like Hi, being polite I say hello back, then nothing, they just disappear. I mean what's the point in messaging in the first place if you're not prepared to carry on or at least try to continue a conversation?

Theres often a lag in the system.

Someone might show as online but in fact have logged out.

If theyre infrequent users, a hi from last week quickly becomes old news.

I never log out and on this last occasion I picked the message pretty much straight away, I literally saw the notification come through. I do have at the top of my profile a note about responding to messages and generally these guys have viewed my profile.

This is one of the reasons I simply delete messages that say "hi". Most often the whole "conversation" turns out to be monosyllabic grunts like "mmmmm", so it's not like you're missing much.

Yeah I used to but I've lately at least tried to make an effort in being polite, some people just aren't good at making first moves and maybe by responding it might bring them out of their shell a little.
