When I receive an unsolicited one word message from someone who clearly hasn’t read my profile, I usually delete without replying. Is this ruder than replying no thanks?

I try to reply to most people but one word messages I wouldn't reply to. If you want to chat and have a conversation then I would reply but not one word messages

I reply if I wish to, I do not feel compelled to do so for any reason.

If I get a one word message I generally reply with one word. Mostly it then turns into more of a conversation occasionally they just reply with one word again that’s when I tend to loose interest.

If someone clearly hasn't bothered reading my profile I block them, I have no time for lazy messages from blank profiles.

I made a tread the other day on a similar subject. I try and be polite and reply to one word messages as I understand that some people just might not be good at first moves and might be looking for a response that breaks the ice as it were, however more often than not my reply of "hello how are you?" gets met with crickets

Sometimes I'll reply to one word messages purely to act stupid and annoy the sender

I've been on here well over a decade and I can tell you I am WAY past the point of entertaining one or two word messages now. I'm clear about it on my profile too, so if you can't be arsed reading it then more fool you, and I can't be arsed replying to your lazy "hi" either.

Also, I'm finding people are increasingly aggressive if you do reply with a "no thanks" these days, so I'm finding myself thinking it's not remotely rude to ignore "hi" given what can often come after it.

If he hasn't read my profile and understood that I delete messages of less than 6 words without replying, then more cunt him. 3 strikes and he's blocked, too.

For the "hi, hey, hello, how're you, how's you" type of messages I'll usually reply with similar, being polite as you would a face to face conversation. Can't say they get answered above messages with a bit more to them.

I have noticed I'm getting more of the "wer u" (sic) and "we're u" messages which for some reason I'm finding more irritating and likely to be deleted or read with without replying.

The rudeness is not bothering to read the profile

I always try to reply, even if it's to say no thank you.

It takes effort and will to reply to one liners, true. On the other hand, they're easy (if clumsy) ways of 'breaking the ice'. Always a gamble...🤦🏽‍♂️

"VERY RUDE not to reply"

No it isn’t, no one owes you a response, especially if you’ve clearly not read their profile

Usually I ignore after looking at the senders profile. If he is cute, local, can accom or is up for a sauna I might respond but that is very rare
