When I receive an unsolicited one word message from someone who clearly hasn’t read my profile, I usually delete without replying. Is this ruder than replying no thanks?

If I get a one word message I generally reply with one word. Mostly it then turns into more of a conversation occasionally they just reply with one word again that’s when I tend to loose interest.

I made a tread the other day on a similar subject. I try and be polite and reply to one word messages as I understand that some people just might not be good at first moves and might be looking for a response that breaks the ice as it were, however more often than not my reply of "hello how are you?" gets met with crickets

I've been on here well over a decade and I can tell you I am WAY past the point of entertaining one or two word messages now. I'm clear about it on my profile too, so if you can't be arsed reading it then more fool you, and I can't be arsed replying to your lazy "hi" either.

Also, I'm finding people are increasingly aggressive if you do reply with a "no thanks" these days, so I'm finding myself thinking it's not remotely rude to ignore "hi" given what can often come after it.

If he hasn't read my profile and understood that I delete messages of less than 6 words without replying, then more cunt him. 3 strikes and he's blocked, too.

For the "hi, hey, hello, how're you, how's you" type of messages I'll usually reply with similar, being polite as you would a face to face conversation. Can't say they get answered above messages with a bit more to them.

I have noticed I'm getting more of the "wer u" (sic) and "we're u" messages which for some reason I'm finding more irritating and likely to be deleted or read with without replying.

If someone just sends a message like "hi" i usually reply with something like Hi, how's it going" and see if it opens the conversation.

On a separate matter on other sites where there are more Americans how do people respond to "whatsup"? I never really know what to say to that.

Some guys don't advertise the fact that they can accom so I guess a message like that just tests the waters as it were.

Well I have stated in my profile that I won’t respond to profiles without a clear face pic, or that don’t send a face pic with their message. If they fail that they obviously haven’t read my profile so they won’t get a reply.

I am NOT in

Those that consider it rude not to reply are being self entitled, nobody has an obligation to respond.

No response is just a non verbal no thanks.

They may read your message, look at your profile, block you and delete message, it is neither rude nor malice.

Block isnt the best word, it is often wrongly interpreted as someone has an issue with the other person.

It just means not interested, do not want to interact with this person, don't want site to show profile to me again, do not want them to waste their time on me.

Every single profile I have clicked on and not been interested in gets blocked to avoid me looking again.

Many have already blocked me, doesn't bother me, we all have our type.
