Any guys here live on or own a narrow boat?

I’m exploring possibilities of ownership and would like to reach out to any guys who might be able to answer some questions and/or give a helping hand.

DM me if this is something you can help with x

Try Dadifest. They have a boat, but they are not online much.

My parents used to live in one and we spent a good few summer holidays on board with them.

They are hard work though and not as easy and care free as people think.

They suffered a couple of winters where we had really bad weather and they got stuck on the boat as the water levels were too high and they couldn't get off the boat as the tow path was flooded.

And you can't just stop and moor up anywhere, there are designated areas and alot of time you have to pay.

It was things like getting post delivered, getting shopping and where do you leave your car.

There is definitely alot to consider first.

If it works it works but it's not all good. Being in the middle of nowhere, not near any shops, having to find a clean water supply for drinking water. Getting diesel for the engine, fuel for the fire.

Maybe do a search on Facebook as well, im sure there are groups out there who would be better to help.

There are a number of people who either live aboard or are regular cruisers who post blogs on Youtube. You'll find a lot of honest answers to your questions there.
