"I have been prescribed a medication and one of the side effects is Thrush. Any tips on how to treat this as i have tried the cream recommended by the Chemist " Go back to your GP and explain the problem. If it is the medication causing the Thrush, just using canesten, or taking antibiotics isn’t going to solve the problem, yes it might clear it up in the short term, but if caused by the other medication, then it is just going to come back again. If this is the case your GP can substitute another medication and give you the appropriate treatment to clear the Thrush up. This can be a common side effect with some meds for Type 2 Diabetes, one that springs to mind is empagliflozin, (or other drugs of the same family). These make you Pee excess sugar which can be the cause of the Thrush. | |||
