Couldn’t sleep last night so watched The Wicker Man (70s version) which was on in the small hours

The end scene is still disturbing to watch

Christopher Lee at his most bonkers evil - he said that it was his fave film he starred in

Anyone else like this film?

Any other film endings that made you feel uncomfortable?

Watched it on BBC4 a few months ago. Well made and well acted but a disturbing film. Fortunately it did not give me a nightmare

Amazing soundtrack. My ex husband introduced me to it years ago, before I’d even seen the film.

It was on a double bill with "Don't Look Now" when it was originally released in the cinema. That must've been a great night out

I love it and have it in my video collection.

There are two versions of the original as some scenes involving Ingrid Pitt were altered and possibly other small tweaks but regardless, such a wonderful film.

There is/was a website "wicker man Locations" and I found out the that pub in the film was up the road in our street when we lived in Scotland! Well, well.

The remake with nick cage must be one of the worst films ever made. When you compare it to the original

Well, I couldn't sleep after watching it!😬🫣😱. A masterpiece but to be approached with care, plenty of pop-corn, a few tranquilisers, a large, warm blanket and ideally, a strong arm and hairy chest to cling on to and bury your head into during difficult scenes 🎥

The original Invasion of the Body Snatchers was a creepy unsettling film for me.

Yeah it's one of the most sexual horror films isn't it. It's all about phallic symbols and even the locals sing about shagging the landlords daughter blatantly in front of her and her dad. Watching it as a 13 year old with my mum (she liked horror films) was super awkward.

Britt Ekland gets her tits and arse out ... But we never get to see the fanny-side

Super Choices! I'd also add to the films with unsettling ends:

'Let the right one in' (2008, original Swedish film)

'Shelter' (2010)

The Ritual (2017)

'Speak no evil' (2024, US remake, of an original Danish film of 2022, which apparently was even more disturbing) 😳

Yeah raging hard-on during that scene. Even when she's circling her fingers roind the bed post like it's a dick. Very suggestive.

With Edward Woodward I presume. Love the film, bit weird but the end when he s put in the wickerman for burning..hmm not a good place to be, though nice view, for a short time

My all time joint favourite film, along with Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?

I've seen it at least ten times, I remember first watching it on late night telly in 1988, the ending was a big surprise.

It's a great film. There's an unofficial extended version that includes a church scene at the beginning and various additions including an initiation / snail scene. One of the best endings of a film.
