I’ve had messages and seen profiles where the person has defined themselves as athletic but clearly has a bit of the dad bod going on. Is it just me or does athletic imply a more toned and/or muscular physique?

Anything from highjumper to shotputter.

It's a meaningless word.

I find the body type thing to be a bit odd. I'm not skinny but I am slimmer than average. I'm toned but not massively. I'd prefer a slim category but its not there lol

Its a meaningless definition in general as they all are including 'dad bod', and only pictures or meeting can tell the story.

To me athletic means toned muscles not huge in size & low body fat percentage example would be most footballers with no top on.

"Luke Littler at Sports Personality of the Year?"

Ok, first I had to look him up! Darts is arguably a pub pastime, not a sport, and it certainly ain’t athletics

It is a sport and seeing as Littler trains to perform a physical task in a competitive setting, he is classed as an athlete.

Just because you can run faster than him and lift more weights is irrelevant.

Bodybuilders define body types

From Skinny to Fat and even obese.

Some guys go for an aesthetic look.

Ottermode is a body type that is pleasing to look at.

Good muscle tone is developed in the gym and improved with sports.

Still, we each have our own delusions 😆

Bear in mind that up until Andy Murray arrived on the scene Jocky Wilson had been Scotland's greatest ever athlete 🙂.

Jocky Wilson and athlete really shouldn't be in the same sentence (no disrespect 😬)… and, it seems you've missed a LOT of (shit hot) Scottish athletes 😁

Agreed. I can just about remember sprinter Allan Wells, who was successful back when white guys could still win sprints 😉.

I class myself as athletic, I have a diet I stick to 6 days a week and always aim for 25000 steps five days a week and the suggested daily 10k sat and sun. Not gonna lie though it went out the window over last fortnight but I gauged for that prior to the festive season 👍🏼

There should be an option for slim. I’ve got muscle tone - I do chins n press ups, but I’m def not athletic.

Some of the guys on here who put athletic are lying bastards 🤭

Look just because they are classed as athletes doesnt mean that some bloke from the dog and duck who once hit a bullseye can put athletic on his profile.

Most of it is subjective. Guys who say they are pretty big but down below are barely 5 inches.

Im slim but no option so I go with average but im more athletic than a lot who describe themselves as athletic.

IMO (subjectively), darts players (generally) are very definitely not classed as athletes! You didn't see my question marks? 😆
