Not thinking about people who have messy houses generally here.

But would you still accom if your house was messy because you are maybe having building works or, in my case, packing ready to move home and boxes all over?

Equally would it put you off visiting such a home?

For someone who is on the point of moving - no. Have done it once, was a mattress in the floor and a pile of packed boxes, but it had been expained in advance. If the guy lives in a mess - that is a different matter

No as long as it was explained beforehand. Then that type of mess is fine, there is a genuine reason behind it.

Would want to have the chance to tidy up first. Packing, whilst in the process of moving wouldn't put me off. In fact went to a guy's house about 2 days before he was due to move. Apart from piles of boxes the place looked quite clean and tidy and we still enjoyed ourselves.

About two years ago visited a guy not too far away. Lovely house on the outside, brand new car out front. Went around the back as asked and kitchen was a pigsty, front room a dump, stairs and bedroom full of dirty clothes, worn, bras, knickers, pink towels, mucky boxers. Could have swam through it all.

I'm generally quite houseproud but it is what it is at the moment!

I think I'd be the same as long as was explained in advance I'd be ok.

I make sure it’s all clean n clear, all the time. When I see pics showing the state of their homes, there’s no way I’d visit them, and I’d never go there.

If you’re moving, it’s a different story. A lot of difference between chaos and squalor!

There's a line between mess/untidiness (moving, redecorating, recarpeting, etc.), and filth. That line can be blurred by the various levels of proportional presence of one and the other. Sometimes it can be gleaned from photos, comments, outside appearance and there's enough time to do a runner; sometimes, you just walk into it😫...aand then run out pronto! 🚗🏃🏽‍♂️🚪

I rent a room in a houseshare so space is always at a premium.

I try to keep it as tidy as I can but most importantly, I keep it clean.
