"Has anyone experienced loss of libido after starting to take statins?" It is a reported side effect, though research varies in it's conclusions. As always, speak to your GP or whoever prescribed them, they may change the statin or if it continues look at other possible causes

"I was on Atorvastatin for about 9 months. Can’t exactly say that I lost libido because I became so lethargic, suffered joint pain and generally felt crap that I wasn’t even thinking about sex. Having seen a report in The Lancet about how little benefit was gained by statins I decided not to commit the NHS to bills from big pharma on my behalf." You have to be very careful with the data around their effectiveness. It very much depends on your personal health, have you already had a heart attack, age etc as the numbers vary considerably.

Atorvastatin only costs the NHS about 2p per pill

Consider an alternative to statins (or a different statin)? Presumably, there was a 'good' reason behind the original prescription, so perhaps it's a good idea to put your health and life first? 🤔

"My cholesterol is stubbornly high and I was offered them at my last review but declined I'm moderately active not overweight I don't smoke and drink lightly so I'll continue to manage through as health lifestyle as I can" I used Benecol drinks from most supermarkets. It reduced my cholesterol by a third after 3 months of taking daily. Then I was prescribed a stating. Just a thought. Earlier someone posted they received Amlodipine which is a blood pressure lowering drug. Which I also take.

Lifestyle/diet changes usually have only a limited/insufficient effect 🤔
