In 1976, Spurs employed Keith Burkinshaw as manager.
Due partly to our best striker, John Duncan, sustaining a long term injury early in the season, we were relegated.
The board didn't panic. They kept faith with Burkinshaw, we were promoted the next season, and the faith shown by the board and the fans was repaid with FA Cup wins in 1981 and 1982 and the UEFA Cup in 1984.
Then consider Fergie at Man. Utd. It took him 3 and a half years to win his first trophy. Would he get that time now? I very much doubt it!
I think we live in a world where people are so used to getting what they want within a short space of time or at the click of a button, that they entirely fail to grasp the fact that building a team and a style of play takes time.
For one thing, Frank's style is in such contrast to Ange's that it was always going to take time for the players to adapt.
Add to that the fact that we're missing Kulisevski, one of our best players last season, and Maddison, who despite being inconsistent can certainly have a huge impact on his day, and it's not hard to see that a number of factors have contributed to our current situation.
Another thing to note is that we're actually doing OK in the Champions League. We're 11th, one point ahead of Chelsea, Newcastle and Barcelona.
We're level on points with Dortmund who we play next at home before going to a struggling Frankfurt, and we're only one point behind Inter, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Two points from our final two games guarantees us a play-off place, while picking up 4 points should get us into the round of 16.
So let's have a bit of perspective. We have some very talented youngsters in Bergvall, Spence and Gray, as well as Xavi Simons who has taken time to adjust to the Premier League (very similar to a certain Luca Modric actually when he first joined us), but is now beginning to show what he's capable of.
Sadly, we've now lost Kudus to injury, but if Frank is given three years I think we'll be back in the top 4
The alternative is to sack him but for whom? What's the point in starting again?
We're in no danger of relegation and are only 6 points off 5th, despite sitting in 14th at present.
It was only a month ago that Brentford were hovering just above the relegation zone, but 4 wins and a draw later and they're 7th.
So let's be patient and give Thomas time.
