Ive got a dulce gusto machine. Usually I have Americano Intenso, probably cos I like rich and full bodied coffee. Has anyone found any decent non-brand pods that work with the machine?

Tbf no. I’ve found the coffee pods to be tasty but way too wasteful and you need three for a decent cup. They’re fun for whipping up a quick macchiato but for normal coffee, just get some nice beans and a pouring coffee machine.

We had a coffee pod machine and upgraded it to a bean to cup one. The cost probably covered in a short time by being able to buy any type of beans we like (cheaper than pods) and better for the environment as no plastic pods. Lidl sell 1kg bags of espresso beans that are really good.

Same here got one in blackfriday couple years back, has more than paid itself back. I have some everyday beans i get from amazon then get nice ones from a local place that roast their own.

I have a Nespresso mug machine. It’s good as it’s just me but it is expensive.

They have a free recycling service for pods they will collect from your home.

Once the pods are used from my large stash I will revert to my bean to cup machine. And use the grounds on my garden.

As previously mentioned. The Lidl espresso beans are great value especially on xxl weeks.

Yes. Aldi's Alcafe Americano pods are the best I've found, and I've tried a lot of brands. Still not as good as bean-to-cup coffee, but not bad at all. Well priced, too.

A friend treated me to a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine for Christmas, complete with a selection of pods from Costa, Nescafe etc. While I appreciate the generosity, so far, I've been disappointed with the results. The machine produces only very small cupfuls, and the flavours are just horrible. Looks like this one's going to be another white elephant!

I’ve got an illy machine

Every so often they have a promotion

Buy 12 cartons of pods and get a machine free

Cartons contain 18 pods and cost £8.45 each

Also have other deals 15 or 20% off at times

Worth checking the website snd sign up to newsletter

So many different types of coffee as well

I've had a bean-to-cup machine for nearly 10 years, and it's still going strong. These days I purchase my beans from Amazon, some of their own-brand stuff is really good.

I tried one a while ago bought elsewhere, and wasn't keen. Will check the Amazon offerings and see if they work better

Ige got both a Tassimo and Dolce Gusto and find the Tassimo ones disappointing too. They just taste more artificial somehow.

Aldi House Blend user here too. I use beans, grind in an electric grinder (also Aldi) & filter directly into a mug with a paper filter. Hot, fresh, easy & delicious.

I've tried many different machines with varying results and to be honest I much prefer the Kenco Smooth instant.

I’ve got a L’Or Barista machine with a milk frother.

I tried all of the supermarket own brand pods and couldn’t find one that I liked. I didn’t bother with Costa and Starbucks because I don’t rate their coffee in their shops so their pods are likely to be as bad.

My favourite coffee shop is 200 Degrees, they’re based from Gloucester up to York and I was delighted to see on their website that they offer a pod subscription service and I use that. Great coffee every time and I can recycle the used pods.

Winnner.

I like my Aeropress which is a manual coffee press that you can use any ground coffee in. You have minimal costs for consumables, you get a pretty good cup of coffee and it’s portable! I reckon that mine had paid for itself in savings within a month. Other than this I would use a mokka pot and which I have learned to use well it it’s a faff. Pod machines are wasteful and hellishly expensive in my opinion.

Good cafetiere, burr grinder and beans you like are all you need and it's no more fuss than twatting about with pods.
