Been really struggling with my new years resolution to stop smoking so I went to the doctor.

He advised me to have a chocolate bar anytime I wanted a fag.

I’ve been trying that for a week now and it still hasn’t helped……

……my lighter just keeps melting the chocolate

It's not easy, it's taken me about 3 weeks of slog to beat the initial cravings every time I've done it. I tried to keep myself out of situation where I might want a smoke for those 3 weeks. After that it is easier but that's the danger time where you think you can have just one, you can't, end of. I finally managed to stop about 25 years ago and I haven't had one since, I got cravings every once in a while but just got over them.

If you ask me the only way is to just muscle it out and tell yourself it will be worth it and make changes to your routine, go for walks instead of smoking etc. Best of luck and just stick with it
