As above really , thinking of getting it as I’ve got problems that Carista can’t handle .

Anyone on here with experience of Vcds that can guide a complete beginner ?

It’s ruddy expensive

Not expensive and the backup from rosstech is good.

"Not expensive and the backup from rosstech is good."

It depends on to what extent you use it regarding being expensive.. If you use it purely for code scanning then yeah it's expensive, but if you are doing some coding and reading values etc etc then it's not expensive

My Brother is a mechanic and has worked in the trade for 9 years he had a vw caddy van 1999 model every now and then a yellow light came on the dashboard and to reset it he would switch it off for 60 seconds then start it again

It worked for him anyway

Thanks for the replies 👍

I’ve ordered it yesterday , bought the unlimited vin version ,

Whilst i am a qualified mechanic , I qualified years ago before all the electronic trickery came out .

Can I bugger anything up with vcds, or is it pretty easy to use ?

I presume if you change something there’s some sort of history of what you’ve done so you can put it back again ?

Just north of Southampton

I'm an old school mechanic... with these modern mobile phones on wheels, if the ecu becomes clitched or the vehicle battery has a low charge state, Charge the battery (or replace if knacked). Disconnect the vehicle battery for 5 minutes (to sink the ecu), reconnect and let the ecu rebuild its vehicle/apps profile! This can take a few days of use as it re-learns your usage! I hate modern cars!

I'm guessing you now have all the info you need to use it.. I did reply again but got nothing back so...

FYI no, there is no backup or history, unless you actually save the existing code before re coding. So you can actually make a car basically into a potato very easily.
