I put this to the test with my mate in a park using the same app

In an open space the touching distance alert sounded at 50 metres

In amongst buildings it came down to 27 metres

It’s been:-

Partner snoring besides me in bed;

Man in same room;

Man bent over tree in next clearing of woods;

People around same pool or in same resort;

Same hotel in nearby rooms;

Along from me in adjoining train carriage;

Train stations;

Etc

It has to be relatively immediate proximity as crow flies.

I would have said 50-100m from experience. Get pings in hotels, turned out they were in the next room
