I do the same, 40 x 25 metres breaststroke. It takes me around 42 minutes and according to my fitness tracker watch, burns around 1000 calories.

I'm looking at going to a local sports centre and maybe having lessons.

I haven't really swam in years and discovered I was rubbish at it on hols a couple of months ago. Want to do it for helping with physio and exercise in general.

In a world of my own

I’m approaching retirement ( end of Feb) and would love to learn to swim properly, I can get myself out of trouble if necessary but never learnt as a child to swim correctly.

Being picked on during unsupervised school swim for alls, ( being held underwater to the point of being terrified, by bullies) and a very skinny self conscious build, I’ve been scared ever since.

I’m still so self conscious of my build and appearance, the only way I feel I could enter a pool is wearing a short legged swim suit, but unsure if that’s allowed? More of a mental thing of what others may think?

Thought if going private or on a learn to swim holiday?

A friend roped me into doing an ice dip at our local park. A group were there.

Just in speedo and it was bloody freezing, however nice euphoria for a few hours once I got out.
