There are already rules in grassroots football for children and some schools have banned breaktime football

Neverwhere

It's only a question of time before someone takes the FA to court over this. The evidence is clear. Once the governing body is in possession of that fact they either have to put in place controls to mitigate the risk (eg helmets in cricket) or face legal action.

Jumpers for goalposts

(less chance of banging your head while having a kick around, and 60 years later wandering around the street in your underpants)

Unfortunately every sport has its risks.

Old footballs from years ago were much heavier than modern ones, especially when wet so I’m not surprised they’ve found a link

It's a tricky one with sports, as another user said all sports have their risks, but the question is how do we make all sports fully safe without completely changing the sport. Take rugby for instance, if them guys went out with all the protection they need in their sport it would be more like watching NFL 😂 and sports like MMA and boxing would change too much too. I do think if you get into sports today, you know the risks involved so it's up to you to make that informed decision. As another example, I ride a motorbike and I know if I had an accident I could die or hurt myself one way or another, even typing this message now I'm recovering from a broken arm from a motorbike accident.

I guess it's all about weighing out the pros and cons and look out for your own wellbeing.
