Works fine. Updates are usually a problem on older models

...and there you have it! Old models struggle with deliberate updates aimed at crippling them; what to do? I know... buy a new £1.5k phone! Phone Co = happy days Phone user = broke!

Older iPhones don’t download the later IOS updates after a certain point. The downside is that apps increasingly want later IOS versions in order to work: the gmail app is an example of this foolishness.

One reason you can't update them is due to the hardware inside, not because the companies are trying to pull a fast one on you. It's not about being foolish; technology is advancing, and it's happening faster than you realise.

Being responsible for our company's apps, it's a bit of a vicious circle.

The app stores say you have to upgrade to 'XYZ' in the app in order to continue to publish updates to the apps, but then the apps need the latest iOS or Android OS in order to work properly.

Then we have queries from customers saying they can't download the app as the stores block it saying it is not compatible with the device OS...
