They’re rubbish. Go on far too long. What can’t they just have the athletes walk in to the stadium. Light the flame. Then let of a few fireworks. We don’t need to see the entire history of your country performed using dance

It's the theatrical luvies... they luv this kind of hyped spectical, and have a str@ngleh@ld on events like this! It's happened in rock 'n' roll, boxing, F1 ect. They just luv to skip, jump and dance with fireworks and inane music pummeling ya lugholes! No cure... just hit the off button!

I have no interest at all in sport of any description...except perhaps just the obvious one,😉 but I guess the Olympics have many sponsors who invest huge amounts into the global event, so the opening ceremony is all about providing publicity for them?
