Planning a trip later this year . Would welcome advice on how to keep safe and minimise scams

The challenge is if you're in touristy places the majority will be scams.

I was with a group in Makati Manila Philippines and Greenbelt and Burgos are the popular hangouts.

Best bet would be to use a regular app like Grindr and change tour location and get talking to someone beforehand. Meet during day a few times.

Like you toddler proof your home, do the same to your hotel room if you're inviting guests over. Leave nothing out that can be slipped into a pocket. Plus..as fun as it is, go more for 1 on 1 rather than group.

1 is easier to keep an eye on. If 2 you'll get distracted. You might have the time of your life but end up sans wallet and phone.

Remember too, it's always the minority.

There's a bar on Soi 6, Pattaya, with a rear entrance on 6/1. Not the best looking, but genuine fun and honest. They have a short time room upstairs, too. SOI 6 bars are ok, but it's a hassle walking along with all the girls grabbing you every other step. They even warn you against Beach road after midnight, but earlier in the evening the girls on 6/1 are regular and well known.

Always makes me laugh when people say this in Pattaya, keep away from Beach Road etc 😂. But then they are happy to go on Thai Friendly etc and pick up a freelancer from there whose probably walked to your hotel from Beach Road.

No idea what thai friendly is,and dont touch freelancers ,always girls with i.d.that have been at the bar a while.or ones that work in normal shops not bars,but they are harder to get

Most beach road are selected by indians, who don't want to pay bar fines, further more don't want to pay girls or guys.

Marine disco now closed would have say 800 at a weekend years back you had all sorts shop workers, hotel, bank staff and you with pulled without paying or paid

40 years going to Thailand it's always been the same.

True, most in Pattaya are freelancers , if they are meeting you for money (you may not pay straight away but you'll pay eventually) then they are a freelancer , lots of people are very naive about Pattaya.
