Bispham, Blackpool.

It's a really sad loss to the music industry, he was both a great songwriter and a brilliant performer.

A lot of his compositions were successful for other artists too, probably the most successful being

Is This The Way To Amarillo by Tony Christie and later given a new lease of popularity with the Peter Kay collaboration.

His early hits date back to the sixties but during the seventies he did collaborate with 10CC at their Strawberry Studios in Manchester to produce some of his contemporary classics.

Originally trained as a classical pianist but his passion was to follow a career in pop music against the wishes of his parents.

A sad loss. Wrote some lovely songs. I defy anyone not to be moved by this live recording of Solitaire.
