Shouldn't have happened

If it was that important they shouldn't have played

Religion shouldn't be anywhere near sport

They should not participate at all if they are on a fast. Altering this is absurd. Then tomorrow they will claim that they won’t play because they are backed by a betting company.

As a Leeds fan I have no issue with it whatever, and I'm quite sure if any other religious group had a likewise fast it would also be observed.

It's just showing respect to someone's religious beliefs.

This issue is not about showing respect or disrespect towards religious individuals. If FIFA decides against something because it does not align with its regulations, it does not imply a lack of respect for the Islamic faith. Such a claim is absurd. The focus is on imposing Islamic rules on the games to assert differences and get respect from others. If someone were to declare that they would not participate in football due to advertising gambling on their kit, would anyone be expected to accommodate that and alter our support for them? Why should we disregard football regulations or refrain from playing during fasting? Would the Premier League agree to halt all matches during Ramadan? Please understand, I have great respect for the wonderful Muslim individuals around the globe, and I do not oppose any religion. However, the intertwining of religion with football, politics, and other domains genuinely troubles me.

In principle I agree, otherwise it opens the door to more things that are more controversial/negative.

HOWEVER in practice it didn't impact the game any more than a slowly taken throw in and the booing was atrocious and gives a message of hatred of a minority rather than disagreement about the decision. As a Leeds fan I'm ashamed.

Although we live in a country where our festivals, holidays, and sporting calendar is based around Christianity - so they kind of do!
