North East

Run it under cool to lukewarm water for 15 to 20 mins then gently wash it with soap to help get rid of the chemicals

Don't apply any creams or ointments immediately as this will trap the chemical on your skin. If the area is likely to rub against clothing, cover it loosely with a clean, dry cloth or bandage.

"Wash it off and call 999"

He did... they gave him a twelve hour arrival time! Third world emergency medical reponce!

The warm water rinse suggestion for 20 minutes should dissipate the chemical! We are on our own now with stuff like this... wasn't it great when we had a NHS! Good luck, I hope you don't suffer any permanent skin disfigurement!

He called 111, if it's giving concern to the OP, he should call 999 who will triage him

I find reading the back of bottles help . Domestic household bleach just needs to be rinsed off liberally with water.

If swallowed, that’s a different ball game.

Best to use a mild soap or shower gel when washing your balls in future. Bleach is a bit harsh.

"Wash it off and call 999"

I can’t believe Denton’s should call 999 for a bleach spillage.its not a medical emergency. The advice on the container is clear to wash off with warm water. No drama.

Our precious NHS resources should not be wasted on advice regarding simple home remedies.

Splitting hairs here... maybe a member of the public in distress would not know the difference between 111 or 999...! However, the operative on the end of the 111 call should know and escullate the call accordingly! To fob a caller off and say we will send someone in twelve hours is third world and not good enough here in the UK!

Other than the OP none of us know the extent of the spillage

Oh No! Whilst using my electric toaster I accidentally dropped it into the water whilst having a bath and got electrocuted! What should I do, call 999 for an ambulance or an electrician to reset the electricity supply and fixed the toaster?

🤫

I accidentally drank a small amount bleach once!

I just drank a glass of milk, and no ill effects, sure you will be fine just rinse it off, don't waste NHS time and resources.

Probably too late to bother with an ambulance or paramedics when you’re dead, and I wouldn’t worry too much about much about the toaster either.

Ever tried copper sulphate? I tried that once in a chemistry lesson.

Tasted like the finest lemon juice for about half a second, then like the bitterest bile in the universe for the rest of the day.

Never trusted anything blue ever since.

If it's something like Domestos, go online and type in the product name and safety data sheet. This gives all the information you need for treating this sort of thing. All part of COSHH.
