Why not? The alternative is that these beasts get 24/7 protection paid for by muggings tax payer.

The very fact that those who commit heinous crimes could end up with their head cracked in two like a coconut like Huntley in prison should be a warning to not indulge in their crimes in the first place.

I think Huntley's failure to explain, or give an account of what he did, further traumatised the parents.

Apparently, he has shown little, if any, sign of remorse.

Huntley should not have been put in prison……. There are some crimes that a warm bed & being fed 3 times a day, even if you are locked up 23 hours a day, and costing you nothing except your freedom, is not enough of a punishment, or a deterrent.

After what he did, he should have been put down.

You think the guy who meted out the attack was any different than Huntley in his way ,

They where both at a high security prison probably on the wing for sex crimes that says something about the attacker unless your one of the romantics that think some crimes are noble career paths.

As for compo the prison system has a responsibility to protect even those that the world deems monsters , if that fails the they are held to account and the public will pay the bill

About 10 years ago I read that it costs about £40k to keep somebody in prison but that was a regular level inmate.

I’d hazard a guess someone like Huntley, £100k pa?

Yes, he may have had those things... but he also had the knowledge that one day... one of the other prisoners would get him! His neck must have been on swivel ; not that it helped him in the end! Other prisoners have a thing about those sort of crimes... It only takes a Warder to turn a blind eye for a moment...

Quite right.

There's a quote from someone famous that says something about judging a civilisation by how they look after those that can not look after themselves. If we include incarcerated people as those that can not look after themselves, and then judge our civilisation based purely on this thread, we're in a bad way.

I think the quote you're thinking about is "if you want to see how your government want to treat you look at how they treat refugees"

I'm not the one claiming such a place exists, it's up to those who do to prove it.

It's a mythical place conjoured up in order to brainwash, frighten and control people over the centuries. No one has ever proven its existence, it's a ridiculous belief.

The only people who are morally allowed to take anything from huntleys demise is the family and friends of the girls who’s lifes he stole away

Exactly I can’t believe some individuals actually feel justice should be done to the guy that killed him or that inquests should take place 🤦🏻

The guy was pure evil and deserved everything he got and as for protecting him in prison he lost that right the moment he killed those two poor innocent bairns

Tragic the girls where attacked by this animal Huntley, and my thoughts are with the family’s of these kids that are again seeing their loved ones over the news feeds.

To give any sort of pass to the suspect a triple murderer and rapist of a pregnant woman who attack huntley is to disrespect his victims families

You would need to have a pretty low intelligence level to think otherwise. Some of the people here are complete morons, dressed up as sheep, more interested in displaying what they see as toughness instead of considering how the family may feel.

"From bbc news: Soham murderer Ian Huntley dies after prison attack

Personally I believe mass murderers should be electrocuted so victims never have to save them again so I’m not crying over the rights or wrongs of his death.

Have you read what you've just published his victims have been murdered ? "

I’m sure you’ll find the childrens parents feel like victims too never mind the fellow school kids who must have had a traumatic time.

Whether you like it or not, there is a process to be gone through. When someone's murdered, the authorities can't just shrug their shoulders and say "Oh well, the cunt deserved it."

But to be realistic, what kind of "justice" will his killer get? HMP Frankland is a category A prison, housing people like Levi Bellfield.

There is a very high level of violence there. That's probably because many of them don't expect ever to be released, meaning they have little or nothing left to lose. They can only serve time once, after all.

He will get no justice other than time all ready added on which rightly means he will never see the light of day

I don’t think for one minute he is hero as he clearly isn’t especially considering what is in jail for but I also can’t criticise him for attacking Huntley any man would so the same his position and I certainly don’t feel sorry for Huntley he got what he deserved END OF

It's another tragic death. Innocent children killed by sick man. Then a sick man killed by another sick man. Can't imagine the parents of those two children find any peace by Huntley's death. And Huntley's family will still suffer being closely involved in such an evil family freak.

World still left with a three times murder who can kill another with pleasure. All terribly sad

I hope that the families of Huntley’s victims are left alone by the media. Probably the last thing they need is it all being dragged up again and forced to go through the emotional turmoil all over again.

Absolutely no chance. Liverpool never forgets the way certain parts of the media dealt with Hillsborough; The Sun is not sold in a single outlet in the city. Any who violate the privacy of the parents should be boycotted

Not for nothing, but the guy's got a point, cross thread comments are very annoying, I'll hold my hand up to doing it in the past and it was poor behaviour by me. Clearly it's agitating for the fellow, leave him be.

Look it’s clear we will never see eye to eye but I’m done with all this nonsense between the two of us I’m far to long in the tooth for it all and to be honest I’ve got better things to do with life.

I’ve met some really decent guys on this app and it helps me get through my day especially and gives me the opportunity to speak to like minded people which I can’t do in every day life so having petty arguments or disagreements isn’t going to help.

I will hold my hands up and apologise for any ill will towards you and I wish you well for the future

Enjoy the rest the football season stay safe and look after yourself

"Good, will save us taxpayers some money

Unless his family (if he has any) decide to sue the MOJ.

Then it will cost millions to the taxpayers…

I hope they wouldn't have the audacity.

I bet the greedy lawyers have already been in touch with his family as they can see a big payday ahead.

They will try to persuade them even if they don’t want anything to do with it…

There won't be a payday for anyone but there will be an inquest, and rightly so. No matter what crime you've committed, the prison service have a duty to protect you from other murderous people like the idiot who killed him."

Of course there will be a payout. They could sue them for millions. 🤦🏻‍♂️

That would depend on the inquest, and if the Prison Service are found to have been at fault.

There’s always deaths in prison, including suicides, and the prison service isn’t necessarily always responsible if there was no failure in their duty of care.
