There are just 3 areas you need to be aware from my reading.

The outside sphincter which is your visible hole. You control this when clenching to stop a fart.

The inner sphincter that is about 4cms in. This is autonomic as is meant to close. This is what breathing exercises, room deodoriser and dildos can help relax.
