Cheltenham called Cockisgood.......

I had my sexual health checkup this week and was given doxycycline as a preventative to take her a fuck session. I am on prep as well. All clear so far. But has anyone else been given it or is it a completely new thing?

reduces the risk of bacterial STIs like syphilis and chlamydia by up to 70-80%. It is recommended for high-risk individuals.

No use for HEP or HIV

I had my screening about 2 weeks ago,I asked about Doxyprep but was given a box of doxycylene to have after sex, it is a much better option as it reduces the risk of becoming immune to antibiotics.

Pep= post exposure.

You take it after sex. One dose lasts three days. You can take another after if you have sex again. So two doses in one week. Take on day one and day four of the week.

Its covers for Syphilis and chlamydia.

Not 100%. But high %.

"I use it daily. No side effects and no infections so far!"

The recommendation is a single dose of 200 mg (i.e., 2 x 100 mg capsules) of doxycycline,

within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours after sex, and if having multiple episodes of sex to take it at the end of a 72 hour period.

You're either having a shitload of sex or been wrongly advised how to take it.

Is he wrong though? This is what my local NHS SH clinic advise (even though they dont supply it yet). ie if having condomless sex daily, take 200mg daily, so long as 24 hrs between doses.

You really shouldn’t use this daily long term.

The protocol that G3vers (the guy who posted above your post) is currently the correct protocol.

No, it's not, and thats not the protocol at my NHS clinic. The protocol is within 24 hrs and no later than 72 hrs after unprotected sex, and no more than 1 dose of doxy in any 24 hr period. The BASSH protocol says some people CAN CHOOSE to do a singular dose after each 72 hrs periods, but also states efficacy of that has not been tested to see if it is different, as effective or less effective. Seems they just don't know yet, and the protocol hasn't been designed with people in mind who have lots of sex.

The NHS protocol is the one G3vers stated, also the one you mentioned.

The BASSH recommendations are broadly similar.

You made a good point, this being these protocols haven’t been designed with people in mind who have lots of sex.

I had this in mind when making my point. I stated that taking doxycycline every day long term currently wouldn’t be advised for various reasons.

What reasons for not long term though? People take it for months on end for malaria prevention. Its a pretty well tolerated drug. It wasn't all that long ago that daily doxy was common on the London club scene. Maybe it still is.

I’ll just make one more point. When I say ‘long term’ I mean day in day out year after year. That’s not going to be the best idea when it comes to any broad spectrum antibiotics. My concern would be gut microbiome alteration, potential tetracycline resistance, also photosensitivity (you'll have to stay out of the sunlight). Best advise, IF possible, use on a more occasional or periodically, rather than every single day.

You’re right, it is generally well tolerated. Also as you rightly say, used for malaria prevention, potentially for months on end.

Ideally you don’t take constantly, the main reason being it wipes out your ‘good bacteria’, as well as the other points I made.

Having said that though, like all these things, risk and reward. Benefits/ risks and the individual all have to be considered. With that in mind, perhaps long term daily (every day) is appropriate for some.

Been for my 3 monthly check up today, have been on daily prep for a couple of years without any side effects at all. I was offered Doxycycline as an extra precaution, my biggest concern was the overuse of antibiotics, however this was quashed when the dosage was explained, it's basically 2 tablets within 24-72 hrs after sexual activity. Can't do too much to protect yourself in my opinion, I just wish everyone would do the same.

I got Doxycycline at my last test. As mentioned, the dosage is 200mg, made up of two 100mg tablets. Does anyone know why they don't just produce 200mg tablets? Just curious, pharmacology isn't my strong point 😄

The most common dosage for doxycycline use is 100mg at a time for treating infections

Just been allowed DoxyPrep tonight confirmed in a visit to the clinic.

Lots of don't do with this medication the main ones being:

no other medication 2 hours before or after.

no antacids medication allowed with in 2 hours before or after Doxy.

No other Antibiots 2 hours before or after Doxy.

Must consume a min of 2-3 cups of water taking the doxyprep.

Must take it on a full stomach food etc.

This is just a few of what the clinic told me tonight, currently doxyprep is about 70% successful at stopping syphilis and chlamydia if taken correctly.

Because 100 mg is for majority of infections with the dosage of twice a day .

Cant help it. I love sex with men. I have multiple sex partners, have sex regularly with casual, or new sexual partners. Sexual health checkup, screening very important to prevent infection. I have sexual  health checkup every 3 to 6 months - HIV Test, Syphilis Test, Gonorrhea & Chlamydia, Rectal Swab, Throat Swab, Urine Test, Hepatitis Test.

I take HIV PrEP an event-based medication which is for HIV-negative men at high risk.

I take Doxycycline Doxy-pep within 72 hours after sex to reduce the risk of syphilis and chlamydia.

I am also fully vaccinated.
