"As racist, homophobic, misogynistic films go, they’re quite funny !!"

Quite surprisingly 'In Sickness & in Health' still shows!

Granted with a 'warning about attitudes of the era'

In some later episodes, Alf gets a home-help, who is black & gay.........

40 years or so later, the homr help is Chief Boden, in the 'Chicago Fire' series

Its a well known fact that the actors and actresses were paid a pittance and were debating going on strike.

When Kenneth Williams was asked would he go strike he replied “ I wouldn’t take a penny more for doing this rubbish “.

Yep, the angel used to walk on the highway itself in the opening credits which is not advised and could result in someone hurting themselves.

They were of their time (my time when I was growing up). It doesn't need to be cancelled, more just preserved in aspic as an example of the kind of casual sexism and racism that used to be acceptable, but that sort of humour makes my kids roll their eyes and go WTF and I'm inclined to agree with them.

There were a number that never got made - scripts were written but were never made for one reason or another.

Titles include:

Carry on Smoking - about a bumbling trainee fire crew.

Carry on Spaceman - a spoof on the space race.

Carry on Flying - about a group of RAF trainees.

Carry on Robin - a spoof on Robin Hood

Carry on Escaping - a spoof of WW2 escape movies

Carry on Dallas - a spoof of the TV series

Carry on Down Under - was to be set in Australia

"You must be very proud of they/them. "

It may have been meant in jest or maybe as a snidey barb like the comment above yours that I won't dignify with a response, but I really am proud of them (four in all). One daughter's openly gay and in a settled relationship with a partner who does use they/them and I couldn't be happier. One son's always flirted a bit with his bi side and the other daughter's openly bi too, although settled with a lad. The other son's as straight as they come and has just presented me with a granddaughter who's absolutely gorgeous.

They keep my boomer dinosaur tendencies well in check which, being somebody who professes to be openminded I appreciate greatly.

If I could wish anything for others it'd be to have a family as great as mine.

I watched a couple of Carry On films back in January when I was laid up with man flu.

I like Convenience, it’s like a snapshot of what the world was like in the early 1970’s; hardly any vehicles on the roads, works coach outings, strikes etc. A couple of the female characters actually end up as being portrayed as quite powerful in the narrative of the story.

They are of their time and should not be measured against modern attitudes and preferences.
