To you guys on it, does it relax your inhibitions about bb, and make you more promiscuous and carefree.

Its been offered to me at my local clinic during my routine checks.

I take Prep cos accidents happen.

Went thru a nightmare after a condom broke and all the maelstrom of feelings and emotions.

Taking it just makes happier knowing I'm protecting myself, and in doing so others. Jabbed up for Hep AB&C, HPV, MPox and MenB. DoxyP as an option too.

Just leaves me worrying about my douche. 🚿

Pretty sensible to take if you feel it's right for you.

There is the goal to rid the world of HIV with widespread prevention.

Im thinking more along the lines of event based reason thinking its easier on the body.

I also read about an injection you have every 2 months which I think will be available near me in the next couple of months.

Been on daily prep for about 10 years. No, it does not "make" you promiscuous or carefree, a drug isn’t going to do that to you. It makes you responsible, prepared, and much more informed/aware than those who cant even be bothered to get tested regularly. If your sex is infrequent, you might as well do event-based dosing. Lots of people do what is know as T&S, take the tablet on days staring with those letters. I tried that for a while but prefer daily simply as it is less to think about. Remember it is only protection for you, nobody else, and it does not protect you from other STIs.

Also found when chatting to event based users that quite a few people weren’t taking the 2 1 1 correctly.

Mostly taking the double dose half an hour before or after sex. These, like all drugs, only work if taken correctly

Tried daily PREP and had to come off it recently as it was causing blinding head aches and blood pressure drop so I'm back on event based only.

PREP is so important in 2026 as hiv is on the up, just a read of the sad sad stories on Reddit HIV group you will why PREP is so important, alot of young kids are getting HIV from not looking after there sexual health even first time mtm anal sex and more surprisingly women are HIV positive as there husband and boyfriends are meetings guys behind there backs.

Get on it and be safe and also do all the other testing which is important. Just watch out for PREP head aches

For guys doing 2 1 1 you don’t have to take the 2 together, you can space the doses out between a few hours to avoid any side effects

Why are the stories sad? Most people with hiv lead perfectly normal and healthy lives.

Because the stories cone from innocent teens and women who did not plan to have HIV it's there partners/bf that cheated and gave it to them, even one women who was a virgin trusted her new BF as it was his first time, turns out the lieing sht face was fck everything and she contracted HIV from him.

So it is sad some people never asked for it, yes if you play with fire you will get burnt I understand, not arqueing HIV can not be controlled in 2026.

When your reading that the ages of teen in there 16-21 now having HIV I personally think is very sad.

There not being taught at school about sex, parents are not talking to there children of the importance of sexual health and testing.

My kids have been spoken to about the safety and importance of testing and protection.

Granted, their sex experience is sad. But the fact they have hiv from it isnt sad. Other people have similar sex experiences and dont get hiv, and that is just as sad bexause of the fucked up sex experience. Having hiv really isnt a big deal these days.

Yes, I find prep makes me less sexually inhibited, more carefree and prosmicuous having sex with other guys. Less worry of catching infection.

I am on event-based prep, doxy-pep and fully vaccinated against hepatitis etc. Same with my partner, we decided to take them as a prophylaxis. Never catch any infection though I have sex with group of guys at saunas, cruise bar etc.

The plan is for the UK to become HIV free by getting all bi and gay men tested and on prep or treated if hiv positive

It gets you regularly tested and given good advice offered vaccinations to prevent gonorrhea and hep and medication to prevent bacterial infections

Sounds good to me.

Where is the source of information? information regarding PrEP and protection is widely available in the uk . The number of people contracting HIV is significantly decreasing. Are you perhaps referring to African countries?

Additionally, when experiencing a headache, PrEP would not be effective either. PrEP is not intended to prevent other STIs, headaches, high blood pressure, stomach aches, and similar issues; each medication serves a specific purpose, and PrEP is designed as a protective measure against HIV.

I am reiterating the conclusion of my statement to ensure it is clear this time .

‘Each medication serves a specific purpose, and PrEP is designed as a protective measure against HIV’.

If you are experiencing a headache, you may take it as well, but please note that it does not cure your headache. I hope this clarifies the matter for you now.

Taking PrEP doesn't make me more promiscuous, it just makes me feel safer and more responsible for the sex that does come my way.

Just a word of caution. I started taking it daily, but after a few months tests showed that my kidney function was being impared. I went onto event-based PrEP and now my kidneys are working properly again.

Also all pregnant women are offered a hiv test which also helps to monitor hiv in the general sexualy active population.

"Doesn't stop you from getting gonorrhea syphilis clymidia nsu."

True, while DoxyPep reduces syphillis and Chlamydia by around 70% it will only protect against gonorrhoea in about a third of cases. The MenB jab also protects against gonorrhoea in about a third of cases. The key is regular testing. When you have all the jabs and are given doxypep the health professional explains there's limited protection and that you need to have regular checks. Part of it is to make sure the PreP isn't causing you any kidney problems etc, but also to ensure you haven't caught an STI in the past few months. If you have, you get treated .

I decided to go on Prep, have the jabs and get regular testing when I spoke to someone who had asymptomatic Chlamydia. He had no idea he'd got it until a previous partner told him they found they had it. He got checked and was surprised that he did have it as he'd not had any symptoms. I looked into it more and realised how many STIs are passed orally and how many men are asymptomatic and realised I was more at risk than I thought. I always suck the guys cock, but even though I'd been insisting on condoms when they fucked me, there was a good chance that at some point I'd catch something. I fully understand why some men stay using condoms and have no problem if a guy wants to use one while fucking me.

In my experience the majority of gay men and openly bi men I’ve come across are on prep and many now doxy etc..

It’s the ones fabstraight and playing on the side that tend to take the risks as they don’t often do prep etc as feel they can’t get away sneak to clinic and test reg etc, many are not even tested at all and are oblivious.
