I was super fit a few years ago, an endurance runner, trail half’s, marathons and ultras and then I picked up an injury which had taken 3 years to recover, as a result I’ve put on a lot of weight, lost muscle definition and strength and of course flexibility….despite my best efforts

I was fairly slim or in proportion to my height five yrs ago , But after quite a long time taking steroids to try and slow down my Sarcoidosis I have gained a lot of belly weight .

I am not on the steroids any more I have changed to a low level chemotherapy ,but I still have a belly .

Unfortunately due to my health problems I cant exercise to help reduce it .

So liking the way I look is not happening for a while .

Fortunately I look better after a wash, shave, hair brushing and the strap marks of the CPAP mask have faded. I got my prostate out a few years ago and after the op, radiotherapy they put me on medication for a year to fight any cancer cells floating around. The side effects were horrendous,it destroys muscle.instead of having a too die for body of a sixty something,I ended up with this grotesque think looking at me in the mirror,instead of pecs there was tits ,lats gone ,no abs fucking awful. Been gyming it for a while to try and regain something but slow progress. So yeh I fucking hate looking at myyself

When I was younger I didn’t and I almost lived in the gym and then I looked gym fit and great. I enjoyed that time of my life and my body.

Now I have a lot of weight on but when I look in the mirror I feel happy. I feel confident in who I am, the pleasure I receive and share with partners, and my body which makes me and others feel sexy when we play. If my body shape is not for others that’s okay we all have preferences.

Sure I could get gym fit again and if I do it will be for my health rather than for looks.

Sometimes when my mood is low or I’m really tired and feeling shit, then I might be critical toward myself. I always know that it’s because I’m not feeling great in general and that it’ll pass.
