World Cup 2026, are we hypocrites?

Russia has been baned from participation in the Fifa World Cups and Uefa's Euro 2024, since it's attack and invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Yet the USA have attacked Iran without providing any evidence to back up thier claims.

After all it is only a matter of months since the USA claimed themselves that Irans potential threats of producing a Nuclear Weapon had ended.

Are we not being hypocrites in attending the event?

Yes, we are. And if anyone boycotted, the US would be a huge hypocrite to complain about it. The US and Israel are the world's biggest terror organisations right now.

Add to this that it may or may not be true that Iran have suggested terrorists attacks on it, I would be happy to see it cancelled or for many nations including ours to not go.

When America and Israel get banned from world sport, like Russia and Belarus have been, then we should stay away. Until then, no.

The ban was for state sponsored doping, not the war though.

I believe that Russia ban from The World Cup was directly linked to their invasion of Ukraine and not for state sponsored doping ,, Belarus were not banned from the 2026 World Cup, they were in the same qualification group as Scotland
