I've always had a theory that in countries with a strong puritanical whiff (like America) they believed that it was more difficult to masturbate if circumcised. It seems to be less universal these days in the US but still pretty common.

Because in American a business model has been created to mutilate children purely for financial gain.

Profit. It adds a few thousand dollars to the hospital bill for the delivery of almost every male.

Bordering the US is Canada. Their rate of circumcision has dropped an average of 30% and continues to drop. It is now viewed as a financial out-of-pocket expense and the Canadian Paediatric Society now deem it medically unnecessary.

My Dad was circumcised, but I when I arrived in the mid-70's he didn't want me cut, despite the Doc who delivered me virtually insisting on it.

I have since been circumcised as an adult later in life (following an accident that included a few drinks and a zipper!). Only as a last resort do I get cut, but that was my own choosing. But my own son was kept as nature intended.

They're a sexually frustrated, puritanical people obsessesed with preventing sexual experiences ( see Wilhelm Reich). Ironically, they share that with the more extreme Islsmists.

Still being told we should eat high fibre breakfast cereal. Noticed that the "health" claims on some boxes are now limited to "increases faecal volume".

My older brother was cut as a baby but I wasn't, I have never thought to ask why, it's not a subject for the dinner table. I'm lucky to have a loose foreskin that causes no trouble. I gather being circumcised as an adult is not pleasant!

Why it's extremely common for Americans I don't know, I assume it's cultural and deemed cleaner perhaps? Unnecessary in most cases though I would imagine.

For most Americans it’s a custom or ritual like genital mutilation in Africa.

Dos not make sense. I m cut never had a problem masturbating. Met a guy who was not cut, he told me to go very easy wanking and sucking because his foreskin could tear. So potentially more problems for guys with foreskins

Nonsense propaganda that has unfortunately been allowed to continue. Evolution gave us the cocks we need then for backwards reasons some of us decided to start mutilating them. Circumcision for medical reasons is great, blindly doing it for cultural reasons is daft.

Yes, but do you need cream or lube to maturbate? Us uncut guys dont need that.

Circumcision is very much the norm in the US. Having enjoyed naturist beaches there I can confirm it.

I fitted well as I am also circumcised. I like it this way and always nice to see other guys with a bare helmet

I once read in a story an allusion to circumcision being class-based in the US: those of a certain status (real or imagined) wouldn't give a second thought to having their sons circumcised. Uncut would be seen as a lower-caste sign.

My own view is that it should be up to the individual later in life to make his choice in the matter: it's a radical imposition, irreversible. I'm aware the religious practice is embedded. I actually like cut cocks, but am glad to be uncut.

Doctors in the USA, Make money performing surgery that it not needed.

Of course there are sometimes medical issues that require a Circumcision.

In the U.K.

The NHS doesn’t perform circumcision unless it necessary.

If it isn’t broken don’t fix it.

"Maybe jewish origin or muslim?"

Why do we inherit our parent's religion?. Free thinking is something some people discover, then realise an intimate part of THEIR body has been sacrificed for someone else’s beliefs.

Believing isn’t the same as knowing.
