Is Bitcoin the perfect payment method?

I've run a Bitcoin node for a few years now, and I think it is the perfect payment method. It avoids all the problems associated with banks and their control of our finances. However, I haven't found many others using it, and those that do seem to think of it as a savings method, rather than a payment system.

Are there any other FabGuys members who run a node, or have a Bitcoin wallet?

No. I would say cash, keep cash alive. We don't want to turn digital.

It's risky to send cash through the post, and it's even worse if you are making international payments.

I've just had a massive problem with a dollar payment. I waited for 2.5 months and didn;t get payment, despite the sender paying high fees. Eventually the payment was refunded, and he paid me using Bitcoin. It was cheap, and it took under 2 hours for the payment to be confirmed.

I want to be able to accept payments for clothes, but I won't use PayPal, and I'm reluctant to provide bank details here for small amounts.

Bitcoin is not sn alternative to cash it is an additional alternative payment method. As is gold and silver. It is far more convenient as an online payment method than cash, gold or silver.

I’ve got bitcoin that I have held for a long time, they’re basically just not being used and are a ‘savings’ for my kids when I pop off.

Do you want to send me a few Satoshi for some of the clothes I get. I've started to create a shopping site but I need to find a model

Is this parody or wilfully misleading? Bitcoin transactions average around 10 minutes and will charge 5-10% of cost. Transactions with my bank take a few seconds and they won't be taking high fees without very strict regulation. Bitcoin offers next to no protection to its consumers, that's not freedom, that's feudalism.

Time is limited for crypto. Netherlands have passed unrealised gains tax to include it. Expect that to spread elsewhere.

Rachel from accounts having to get someone to explain it to her using single syllable words.

When I'm in the supermarket, I'll put together a more detailed response. Bitcoin is unique, it is the only crypto with a hard asset value. I don't see how they can enforce taxation on a self custodial wallet. If you don't own your private keys, then you have the same risks as a fiat bank account.

The point of this thread is to see if anyone uses it to make online purchases. I'm not trying to persuade any one to use it. In fact, if you don't understand it, then you should leave it alone.

I changed my barber last year as the previous one moved away, he was the last person I paid cash to. The new one accepts card payments or even bank transfer.

Look at what happened in Canada with the trucker's protest.

Removing your ability to buy food for your children would have a stifling effect on anybody's willingness to protest.

Then they’re going to try to explain non-fungible assets to her. Good luck with that!

Just a bit of information that you should know: if we turn digital, they can turn it off at any time. If the government don't agree with what you're saying, bye-bye to your money. Sadly, with this new Digital ID, they are forcing, under the cover. That means all of our lives, our information will be under this digital ID. Say something wrong and your non-existent goodbye, mr or Mrs, think about it in that sense.

sadly most people will think oh this is really useful. I don't have to do any more registering. If they want something, give them one bit of information, and they've got what they need. But when you sign up to digital ID, you are fucked basically. Everything about you is under one ID, and when all your information is under one ID, it attracts hackers and untrustworthy people. All our information under one ID is very valuable. Hackers will want that.

I have some knowledge of digital Information, and I know how easy it is to take and hack.

Bitcoin has never been hacked. Custodial wallets have Been hacked, and so have computers containing wallets. Bitcoin itself has not at any time in its existence. It cannot be controlled by governments, only the exchanges are vulnerable. Peer to peer transfers are pseudonomous as well, and immutable. If you understand crypto, then you know that Bitcoin is unique and in a class of its own.

I never said Bitcoin. Valuable information, such as all our information under one digital ID, will attract hackers and untrustworthy people. having a Digital ID with all your information under it is a foolish mistake.

A PayPal transaction takes 6 months to confirm and become immutable. Up until then it can be reversed. In addition it is based on fiat currencies, and that makes payments vulnerable to government control.

I can't accept credit card payments.

No one is using Bitcoin as an alternate to cash. Six months ago, Bitcoin was worth £91000 now its worth £53000. Who knows what it will be worth in six months time.

It's far too unstable to use to purchase things. However, it is unstable enough for people to make and lose huge amounts of money.

Probably the most energy inefficient way to transfer value you could dream up. Satoshi probably has shares in electricity companies.

As an investment platform it makes little sense but knick yourself out if you can ride those waves but as a payment system it's slow, inefficient and easily hackable - look how many bitcoins have been grabbed from hacked sites over the years.
