Well I'm currently in Bristol visiting son and daughter-in-law and their brand new (one week old) beautiful and adorable daughter - my first grandkids - so it seems completely appropriate!

Appropriate? If it was Father's day I could understand, OP said Mother's day, so doesn't make sense.

Whilst wishing the mothers of all members of this site a Very Happy Mothering Sunday I would point out than none of you are actually mothers. Those that think they are your special day is April 1st,

Especially the ones that still wear their mother's clothes. Lovely way to keep her memory alive Norman.

A bit mean of you. My dear old mother has been dead for nigh on 30 years but I wouldn't think twice about sending her flowers and a card if she was still around. The only 'reprieve' I got was when Mothering Sunday fell on her birthday which happened a couple of times.

A new mother, with a new baby? Maybe my English is at fault. We got her a card anyway

Sounds it... but my mother had a warped sense of humour she'd expect me to come out with stuff like that..

"🙈 Seriously..."

It might be about the actual meaning of mothering Sunday - returning to the church you were christened in

It has its roots in ancient Roman and Egyptian pagan celebrations.

I went to Iceland a few years ago. Lovely people, really friendly. The Blue Lagoon and the Gullfoss Waterfall were beautiful. The Aurora Borealis was stunningly good there too.
