Why do guys who contact you insist on just messaging HEY!! Or it’s equivalent? It’s about as likely to get no response from me as it would grunting at me!!! Why can’t guys put together a sentence. It’s like they are 11 years old at a school disco. 😂😂😂😂

One reason, it might be that the spelling and grammar police tend to come out and critersise any mistake.

As one that has struggled with spelling and grammar, I know how much the critersism hurts, when you are trying.

They could have just used a wink, but perhaps "Hey" could mean they are trying, so give them a break.

But the difference is that you have made the effort!

Hey! or HRU or HMU or any other one word "effort" or TLA is not trying. May as well use the wink except nobody takes any notice of those, whereas an inbox notification at least makes you look, before the inevitable disappointment kicks in.

Still, at least the delete message function is only a click away and the block only a further click if they persist in bashing their (small) head against a deeply uninterested wall.

I always start with "Hey how's it going?". It's not an essay - I know - but I'm not gonna instantly ask them whether they fancy a meet.

Some don't want "timewasters", some want something more direct, and some don't reply back anyway

You're not going to get many meets that way, I fear.

I mostly just ignore a “hey” message unless the sender is is really hot. It’s just a low effort message.

"just send a Hey back and see if it gets a better response. "

I'd rather just a simple Hello, hey is too American for me.

I don't doubt that the struggle is real, but surely a person is able to learn the basics, like you're and your, their and they're, and so on. The spelling and grammar police are just pointing out where others can improve, no harm. How else will a person know they're making a mistake?

Maybe theyre so good that they dont need to try hard, or maybe they think they dont need to try hard with you. Its just a conversation starter, do with it whatever you like.

I don't mind a simple hey as a starter but I tend to pay more attention to messages that someone has put a bit of effort in or shows they have actually read my profile

I understand what you are saying.

But often the errors that are pointed by those with better linguistics skills are done in a negative statement.

It would be better if any criticism was done with a positive and helpful comments.

As an icebreaker, I don't mind a "Hey/Hi/Hello" as the gateway to hopefully more substantial responses.

‘Hey’ or any of its derivatives is fine as a starter. It seems a little narcissistic to want someone to spend time crafting a message that you may, or may not, reply to.

Ultimately I want someone to meet up, have a sexy time and enjoy ourselves. As I’ve got them bent over the bed, I really don’t care about there literacy skills.
