To my wife:

"It's been a while but I've got the itch for sexy time with a guy again, and I've found a good one, any objections?"

Good on her, she said go for it. Was shitting myself in case she said no and I had to cancel (despite that I've run some previous meets past her).

This is what ethical non-monogamy feels like and I love it.

How would have it played out if she had objections?

I'd have respected them. Like I said, ENM is with the emphasis on E.

So essentially you need her approval to scratch your itch.

"So essentially you need her approval to scratch your itch."

So essentially I'm married, made a commitment and only play by ethical rules.

I'm not a gay singleton with nobody to answer to except myself, and I like it that way. I consider myself fortunate to be married to somebody who understands my needs and accepts them, and if that means running a potential meet by her and reassuring her it's just scratching an itch as you put it and not a threat to our relationship, then yeah I'm happy with that. I'm not in this to be a slag.

Her ability to veto your pleasure isnt understanding your needs; it's controlling them. Giving her a veto doesn't make it ethical. Ethical would be not doing it, or doing it and she doesn't care or have a say because it's your need, and she wants all your needs met because she cares about you. I'm married and we have a dont ask/don't tell arrangement. Neither of us cares what the other gets up to so long as it makes us happy. There is no veto and no controlling power. We're not the UN 😆

She's had girlfriends before and of course if she wanted to again I'd be supportive (even if there was nothing in it for me) but I don't think she's interested at the moment.
