Enlarged prostate

Blackpool/Preston.

I'm sure there's a lot of men on here with the same condition as me, an enlarged prostate.

I'm starting Tamsulosin and wondering if anyone else is on it and what's it like?

For me, my libido is gone completely and there's other stuff like dizzy, tiredness but they don t last long and seem to come around at same time each day, but not all at once. Maybe its due to it being a slow release med, don t know. All I know is a member of either sex could be hot for a shag reet in front of me and I d not feel a thing, but thats my experience.

Been on it a couple of years now. Just take the capsule at night before bed. I’ve not had any side effects.

I would say if you experience undesirable side effects speak to the person who prescribed it. Don’t suffer in silence.

Read the leaflet that comes with it. I’ve found I was experiencing side effect of a drug I was on for a year but hadn’t been told about.

Something to keep in mind, all medication has possible side effects (even things like aspirin and paracetamol), some people will experience some side effects and others no side effects on any particular medication. If you experience severe side effects you should speak to your doctor and they may be able to change you to an alternative.

I'm currently on PamsVax - which sounds like a Victoria Wood sketch - and i have a strange internal ejaculation. It freaked me out at first, but on passing water, it passes as a clear urine. I still get hard and still orgasm, its just very strange.

I have been put on it to pass a suspected kidney stone as it also dilates the urethra.

Been on it for about 4 years now. No side effects other than it had made getting a really hard erection more difficult. It was recently reviewed by a urologist who decided t keep me on the same daily dosage.

I’ve been on it for a few years and it does have a few side effects.

I still get up several times during the night and can get an erection.

Came off it, was awful for me. Didn't ever get hard, was numb in fact. Some seem to get on with it but it's not for me.

Having recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, I was prescribed Tamulosin but found the side effects very difficult. For me the effects were somewhat like viagara in that I got strong erections and a very stuffy nose. The blocked nose was continual and I found it hard to sleep.

I am now on Alfuzosin instead and do not have the side effects I had on Tamulosin. It also has worked better in what it was prescribed for, in that I am not rushing for a pee so urgently and frequently.

Now just got to decide on the cancer treatment and I'm seeing the oncologist tomorrow.

No side effects at all.

Reduced the dose from daily to once every two days and it didn't seem to impair the effectiveness - still helps.

It's an alpha blocker, isn't it? It doesn't reduce the prostate size, just relaxes it so you don't get urine retention.

Thank you for this.

I only took my first dose last night.

I woke up with a stuffy nose but I do have a very welcome strong erection this morning.

Good luck with the surgery

Just wondering if these sort of discussions can end up having a placebo effect on the person asking?

Let’s say People X, Y an Z all have experienced the same side effects on any on a particular medication, so person A just starting on it is predisposed to think they are going to have the same side effect, so they do. Likewise a strong suggestion that a sugar pill is a pain killer from a medical professional can actually cause the sufferers to feel better after taking it.

And yes it is a real thing scientifically shown to happen.

I have a benign enlarged prostate. I eventually saw a private urologist who operated to laser part of it away. He also took me off tamsulosin and put me on 5mg Cialis daily.

That has been amazing. My cock reacts like I am 20 again.

It's not available on the NHS so I buy it privately. Worth it.

I know it's a thing but not in my case.

Blackpool/Preston.

Thanks for the positive comments and private messages.

So far I've experienced a little bit of nausea that I reckon will settle down.

My erection is wonderfully firm, so that's nice.

I had a fabulous orgasm yesterday during a massage, but didn't ejaculate.

That was an interesting outcome, all the pleasure of cumming without the mess
