Rednose Day, Record Low Raised

Rawcliffe Bridge.

I wonder why.

I'm sure it's nothing to do with the CEO of Comic Relief charity is on £170,000!

So the £10 I was thinking of donating won't touch the sides..

Please debate further.

Factcheck: Red Nose Day's corporate sponsors pay for operating costs, wages etc.

All public donations go to the charitable projects.

But don't let that stop anyone from spewing the usual knee-jerk claptrap.

From their website

“ Running Comic Relief

No money donated directly by the public goes to pay our running costs. We cover these in other ways – such as returns on investments and income from Gift Aid, participation fees and licensing. We work hard to keep costs under tight control and to make sure that any increase on money spent on fundraising raises significant additional funds for our beneficiaries.”

In not adverse to donating to charities

But unfortunately comic relief isn’t 1 of them

I’m a great believer of charity begins at home and knowing the majority of money raised is sent abroad doesn’t sit well for me personally

Im a regular donator to our local hospice that care for our local terminally ill patients and also our local special care baby unit as well as several wards at our local hospital

There have been a few investigations into it. Doesn't seem to be well run or efficient charity. Too many overpaid staff, too much waste.

Also most people are over virtue signalling "celebrities".

Typical empty response from you, "I know you are but what am I?"

You seem to have very little to offer beyond trotting out the same old intolerant waffle or mindlessly throwing people's comments back at them.

That's the best solution. Find something you care about and find ways to maximise the actual benefit of your contributions.

"

Another with their head in the sand.

Racism isn’t just confined to black peoples being victims.

Operation Stovewood, National Crime Agency investigation, resulted in 7 men from Rotherham receiving stiff sentences in 2024 for grooming & sexually abusing little English girls who were deliberately chosen as victims for being white.

And that’s the tip of the iceberg, as we will find out over the coming years.

I myself, and colleagues, experienced racism, and religious intolerance, in the workplace back in the early 2000’s that happened in your very city.

I remember as a child in Dundee that we raised money for what was called "Black Babies" it was a catholic charity and when you donated so much you received a black and white photo of a poverty driven child in Africa.

You were always frowned upon if you didn't donate once a week.

'Beyond the pale" originates from the literal use of "pale" (derived from the Latin palus, a stake) to describe a fence or boundary marking an area under authority. Specifically, it refers to the late Middle Ages English Pale in Ireland, with everything outside considered lawless and uncivilized, leading to the idiom for "beyond acceptable behavior'.

There are people who enter the UK illegally who are not black or brown. "Most of which" is just projecting a racism into a comment that does no mention race.

It does get very tiresome when we witness the 'race card' being played on a air trigger basis. As Morgan Freeman, himself a black person, so cogently put it "The best way to deal with racism is to stop talking about it !"

""illegals" is a dehumanising term. Used to describe people who arrive in the UK via irregular means. Most of which are black and brown, so yeah it has racist connotations.

'Illegals' - Used to describe people who enter the UK by ILLEGAL means.

Making them illegal immigrants... AKA-'Illegals'

Their skin pigmentation is irrelevant, mostly only of interest to bleeding-heart white knights & race grifters who try and use it to get their own way.

You can put that in your upcoming autobiography if you like

"

Used to?

When has Farage not called it that??

Since you know it become an issue, since you know....erm, 2016.

Whatever, could have caused this???

"60% of money raised goes overseas, while the rest of it goes to help illegals avoid being deported.

It's a scam.

Stop already!!! your racist rants. You can’t seem to have a healthy discussion without being a racist!!!

Why is it, that as soon as people originating from a different country are mentioned, you become racist? "

It comes from Critical Race Theory.

Which states that -

'To be white is to be racist .... All non-whites are victims of racism by inherently racist whites ... To not be racist isn't enough, the only road to salvation for a white person is to prove & constantly signal that they are actively anti-racist.'

No that’s your explanation for the word “illegals”!

Not necessarily the true meaning of the word

Google it rather than post personal opinions

I’ll be honest (as I did Google it!)i wasn’t expecting there to be such a word as it has obviously derived from the word illegal which shouldn’t technically be pluralised but I stand corrected

Yowzers!!!

You're just making things up!

Critical race theory doesn't argue about individuals.

It essentially argues that because of chattel sl@very, and race science. The world has been order in a certain way. It is more about structures and the way they've been created.

'Used to describe' .... Very present tense.

Little history lesson for you son.

'Illegal Immigrants' - Used commonly in the UK since the 1905 Aliens Act ... and gained significant legal and public prominence following the Immigration Act of 1971.

Nothing to do with Brexit or Nigel Farage.

Imagine thinking that reading between the lines and locking up threads isn't a journalists job!

Emily Maitlis scewred Andrew that night, in ways that have only unfolded uears since that interview.

They are trained to spot what is and isn't being said.

How an individual is deflecting, or the words they choose.

Because, words do still have meaning.

Illegals in a certain context being one. 😉

Via Peter Malinauskous - A Henry Lawson poem,..

'Tis the duty of Australians in the bush and in the town.

To forever their country, but run no other down -

When a man or nation visits, in the hayday of it's pride,

'Tis the the duty of Australians to be kind but dignified.....

'Tis our duty to the stranger - landed may be but an hour -

To give audience to the new chum and let the old chums wait,

Lest his memory be embittered by his first days in the State.

'Tis our duty, when he's foreign, and his English very young.

To find and take him somewhere where he'll here his native tounge.

To give our last spare moment, and our pleasure to defer -

He'll be a father of Australians, as our foreign fathers were!"

Beautiful sentiments, some of you could learn

Of all the comments, this one is sheer stupidity. So 40% is used to stop people being deported ?

Are you 100 % or made that up ?

GB News at its finest i guess and you should get a show on there as it is just as daft as they are.

I hope no one on here believes this crap.

Probably a combo of several reasons.

People not got as much money spare and concerned with prices going up due to US/Iran

The show is poor to what it was years ago when used be a most watch.

I only knew it was red nose day as wife had bought a t-shirt and not one of people i was sat with in pub that night knew either, so their promotion/advertising missing a lot of people.

Can't you see that isolation makes you more dangerous?

Investing in other countries, disease fighting, climate issues reduces the need for people to flee - become refugees.

Pulling that draw bridge up investing it in whatever your pet project is only increases the numbers becoming needy and wanting to come to your shores?

What racist rants?

Stop crying wolf .... It just doesn't work anymore.

Crying wolf, you don’t seem to understand what it means; you are clearly a racist. You have nothing constructive to contribute except for racist slurs, racist tropes, all very racist.

We should be discussing how cost of living crisis is affecting donations, Brexit effect on contributing to a more severe cost of living crisis and Trump who all the extreme right on here, like yourself, love, his effects on global economies and his love for war. "

Stop with the Brexit quotes. It's the governments and WEF agenda 2030 that's killing us all not bloody Brexit.

Bro. I know blaming "WEF" is easy!! They are a concept, a structure you believe is controlling the globe.

It isn't true! It is true to say that it's a place where world leaders can discuss what's happening in the world to their individual problems.

It's like a person meeting with a group of mates and saying fuck I'm skint, or jeez this is going well. The direct comparison may not work for you individually but you try aspects of what others share
